I stayed at this hotel in room number 715 from July 31- August 1, 2015. When I had called to book a room for my family at this hotel, the person on the phone seemed disturbed by my last name, inquiring about my connection to Sylhet. As, I wanted to stay for just one night, I thought I would let it go. The fiasco was just beginning. I had requested a couple bed-room and they confirmed me about availability. But when I arrived at around 12:30 PM on July 31, and was in a hurry for the Jummah prayer, they informed me that couple bed was not available and they were providing me with a free upgrade. I took that as a notion of their goodwill. My wife and five year old son was in the room in the evening, while I was away. They had requested tea and prawn toast for a guest that we were expecting. It took the room service more than 90 minutes to deliver it. And when asked about the delay, they gave a simple 'We don't care" type of look. I thought it was an isolated incident and wanted to rest it there. The fiasco took a new turn altogether when I started hearing cracking sounds from the 8th floor, exactly at midnight. Someone was pulling tables and chairs with huge bangs as if there was a fight upstairs. My son could not sleep and my wife called the reception at 1:00 AM and the reception notified us, they can't do a thing about it, as they were cleaning up after a late night Panchini party. This is totally unacceptable, as they kept on doing it till 2:30 AM in the morning. If they had notified us that they would be hosting late night parties on top of our room, we would not have even come to this hotel. I have stayed at a good number of hotels in Sylhet for vacation and work reasons, ranging from low-end budget hotels to the high-end luxury ones. But no one came even close to Britannia Hotel in terms of providing the worst possible service. I would not even want to talk about the quality of the food that they provided for breakfast and the evening meal that we had ordered. I would request the authorities of this hotel to take a close...
Read moreWhere to begin with my stay. I came to bangladesh knowing the rules and regulations of the country so when it said 7 day quarantining I was okay with this. When we board the Biman Bangladesh flight to Sylhet there was no soical distancing between passages and the flight crew did nothing thoughout the flight. Once we have arrived at Sylhet airport once again no social distancing between you and other people and the airport. Once you have got on to the bus to the hotel and this was also a nightmare and once again no soical distancing. Once you arrive at the hotel they weren't prepared and you had to wait for about 1 hour to about 1 hour and 30 minutes for your room to get ready and once again no social distancing at the main reception desk. For the first 4 days at the hotel they made us stay in our rooms and said we weren't allowed to leave the room to get exercise and fresh air and even the police were making us stay in our rooms. But we protested against this and we were finally allowed to leave our rooms for fresh air and exercise. Please don't get the food from the hotel restaurant. The food was terrible my parents had the curry and rice and it gave them a tummy ace. I spoke to a load of other people who were staying at the same hotel as us they were saying the same thing but then they started ordering outside from the hotel. They will make you stay and extra 2 days and take your covid test on day 8 and you should receive on the evening of day 9 people who were on the same flight as us but who went to Dhaka already left quarintine on day 7. Also the house keeping is terrible I called for mosquito spray and waited 10 minutes for it then I went to (floor 5) where house keeping are based and saw three of them just talking and doing nothing and when I went back to the room it took them an extra 5 minutes to come to my room. Please when booking get the right information and avoid this place at all...

I visited last year in month of june. Very very very poor service from internal hotel staff. a At the time of check in i discussed with hotel manager that i will book a single room but one of my female office mate from sylhet she will come to meet me in day time for couple of hours,he agreed on the same. But whenever she came to meet me in hotel in day time hotel staffs were starring at her 😳 like they have never seen any girl before. Please educate your hotel staff to respect girls/women don't give stare at any girl/women comin in your hotel and feel her uncomfortable. And very worst case after a weak on last day when i was about to leave the hotel and catch my flight hotel mabager didn't allowed my freind to meet me in my room in day time and they were telling me about hotel rules and policy does not allow female freind to meet because you bookes a single room, i asked him then why you allowed her till now? is this policy applied only for last day? Why you didn't informed me this on day 1?. No answer from staff members neither from manger and one of staff was making angry face. They didn't allowed her to meet me on my last day. She waited for me at hotel reception i did early checkout and left the hotel.
