This is a great hotel if you want to stay in the middle of sylhet with everything you need around you. Excellent for location. Rooms are very comfortable and as I stayed for nearly 2 weeks, I needed somewhere I can feel at home and this served the purpose. Gym is great. Breakfast is average, but not bad. Generally polite staff. However, the one thing that I found slightly strange and perhaps negative was that the front desk person did not at all make clear anything about how payment works. He just said you can pay later. It was left very unclear. Then randomly on day 6 he calls me up saying ‘oh they came to clean your room but you had the no disturb sign on, please can you come to reception to talk about this’. I honestly found this so strange! If I don’t want to be disturbed, then that’s it. You don’t need to clean. When I got to reception, in actual fact he made that as an excuse to ask for payment. Why is it all hush hush when asking for payment. Either take it up front, store my credit card on file or take it on check out. I’ve stayed at hotels all around the world and this is the first time I’ve encountered weird and I must say, very unclear processes on payment. I did say to him that it might be better to pay at end as then I can pay everything together. It may sound minor, but they should just be upfront and considering it’s a “5 star” hotel, kind of puts you off wheh they make excuses to get you to come to reception to discuss payment and don’t discuss things with you beforehand at check in.
View from rooftop was awesome and from my room window! A huge plus! WiFi was good too and I may come back here if I stay in sylhet. I would have defo returned if it had not been for this encounter but now I will think...
Read moreThe Hotel Grand Place Sylhet is a 3-star hotel located in the heart of Sylhet city. It is conveniently located near many popular tourist attractions, including the Hazrat Shahjalal (R) Mazar Sharif, the Sylhet Rajakini Cantonment, and the Sylhet Museum.
The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and they are always willing to go the extra mile to make their guests' stay comfortable. The rooms are also spacious and clean, and they offer a variety of amenities, including a flat-screen TV, a minibar, and a tea/coffee maker.
However, there are a few things that could be improved at the Hotel Grand Place Sylhet. First, the room maintenance is not very good. There were a few things in my room that were broken or not working properly, such as the shower head and the air conditioner. Second, the bathroom amenities are also of poor quality. The towels were thin and scratchy, and the shampoo and conditioner were very basic. Third, the hotel can be quite congested and overcrowded, especially during peak season. This can make it difficult to find a seat in the restaurant or by the pool.
Overall, the Hotel Grand Place Sylhet is an average hotel with a few pros and cons. If you are looking for a convenient and affordable place to stay in Sylhet city, then this hotel is a good option. However, if you are looking for a more luxurious and comfortable experience, then you may want to consider staying at another hotel.
Recommendations:
The hotel should improve its room maintenance and bathroom amenities.
2.The hotel should also try to find ways to reduce congestion and overcrowding, especially during peak season.
I hope this...
Read moreBeautiful new hotel. Immaculate. Beds very comfortable. Rooms cleaned daily. Nice strong hot showers. The inclusive breakfast bar was amazing. Very large selection of many types of food. Most food is Bengali but a few other foods as well. Fruit and cereals offered also. If marsala chai is not on buffet table- ask as they will kindly make a pot of it . Up stairs is a very nice small gym and also a beautiful pool. In January the pool was too cold for myself to swim, but in summer it would be nice. Hotel is located right down in shopping district. Very easy to walk out front door and shopping at your display. Bargaining accepted but not in sari stores. This hotel is cheaper then another 'palace' hotel near by and is very luxurious. Most of the staff speaks English if you need...
