Nazal is by far the best hostel that I've stayed in Bangladesh. The staff and the hostel mates are so friendly and helpful, they'll help you to settle in quickly without getting into your business too much. The chef here cooks excellently so comparing with other hostels I lived in Dhaka the food is great here, the current meal price is 80 taka per meal which is a bit on the expensive side when compared to living in a mess or other hostels but for the most part it's worth the extra money. The caretaker is extremely nice and friendly but a bit lazy so you might have to ask him twice or thrice if you want your room cleaned or for anything else.
As for the people who stay here, there's a mix of IELTS students and jobholders who are all friendly and not the kind to cause any drama. If anyone is found disturbing the peace in any way they are told to leave the hostel even if they are long term stayers, which is refreshing to see since other hostels I've stayed in tend to have a bias towards the people who stayed in the hostel for a long time when it comes to handling disputes. The owner was extremely considerate to select a room for me that would create the least amount of hassle for me, that led me to meet two of the nicest roommates I'll ever have, the people of this hostel is undoubtedly what makes this hostel so easy to live and adjust to.
So the downside of this place would be that it isn't being advertised properly to show how good this place is, the pictures here and in the FB page hasnt been updated since they moved to Zindabazar and there is no mention of cost of living here anywhere (The seat rent is 3500 btw), other than that I cant find a glaring issue. There is currently construction going on at the building so sleeping might be a bit difficult during the daytime and the people in the hostel might keep you up at night if you're an early sleeper like me but these are things you get adjusted to with time. So I would definitely recommend this place to anyone whether it's for short term or...
Read moreI am reviewing based in multiple factors: the owner is 5 starts, he helped us very much, with our plans during our stay in Srimangal and even even bargain with a boatman by phone to go to Lala khal. there was no hot water but the temperature was not so low, so it was ok to take a cold shower. in the future maybe you could buy fridge and some forks and knives for the foreign people. the kid that is always around could learn the basic English because he didn't even know how to ask for a tip 😂 we took the private bunk bed room. We sleep very well and the space...
