This hotel has been a lot of bark but very little bite.
Summary: It's catered the very young and old and if you want to bathe, bring a swimming cap. The rooms don't have a fridge, any means of circulating the air nor do they have enough wallsockets. The employees hardly speak english (although they most likely speak Flemish and French) except for the receptionist.
In my opinion the belgian coutryside is beautiful and so is this hotel but this is unfortunately the only good thing about hotel. I think my experience might be different from the usual guests that book this hotel. This is because the majority of guest were mostly Belgian pensioners and this was increadibly noticeable in many aspects, the main aspect was the closing times during the hotel dinner which allegedly closed at nine p.m. but they stopped serving food at eight. They also have a large indoors pool but in order to enter you have to wear a bathing cap which I don't think anyone but elite swimmers and the elderly bring on vacation. Although this was a huge negative in my book I could understand that cleaning would be easier if everyone had one. But I still wanted to swim so I went to the reception to buy one, but no receptionist came after a good couple of minutes of waiting. So I gave up and went to my room. The rooms in this hotel look really good and are spacious if you are two, however, if you are three people sharing a room the "plenty of space" becomes a fight for space where there is bearly enough walkroom for three people and there is not nearly enough wallsockets for two, let alone three. There are also multiple smaller "Quality Of Life'' aspects missing in the room like no refrigerator which should be a mandatory in any half decent hotel and a missing AC or even a fan. It became incredibly hot during the nights when I stayed there and the lack of any coolingsystem was quite unbearable since the warm air wouldn't circulate. Last but not least let me also mention the fact that very few people speak english in the Ardennes region so don't expect any long conversations with the population or the staff. Some staff such as the receptionists spoke good english but the other general staff were...
Read moreStayed there with my family during halloween and really enjoyed ourselves. You should know that this is a very large hotel that mainly caters to families with small children and has an institutional feel to it. Don't expect a boutique hotel or monastery-like silence. If you want that, look elsewhere and be prepared to pay -a lot - more.||The room was good and clean, beds ok. Lots of animation for kids, though the enrollment process is archaic (physically write down the name of participants in a ledger at 1800 sharp). The location is splendid, lovely nature and away from traffic. ||The breakfast buffet is good and can compete with what's on offer in much more expensive places, provided that you arrive early before the invasion starts around 0830. ||Now, for dinner I was not impressed. At all. Firstly, due to the clientele's demographics, there's a run on the buffet as soon as the doors open. Very noisy. And maybe because I'm a vegetarian, very little choice and the vegetarian option was almost inedible (but at least they have one). If money is of lesser concern than quality, I would suggest foregoing the dinner buffet option and eating à la carte in the separate dining room.||The entertainment for the kids was really great,...
Read moreI visited this hotel with my brother and friends whilst on a tour of the historic area related to the battle of the bulge. It is quite a large hotel and spa situated in a valley which is lined with pine tree forests. It is at the end of the village with lovely small bridges and a bubbly stream. It offers everything a spa normally does and is very popular with the older generation and I can see why.|The evening buffet is great both in variety of food and good service. Plus free beer with your meal, what a bonus. Breakfast is great both English style and continental. It is a great place for going out each day and exploring the lovely countryside. Very well priced for what you get. Rooms clean and spacious each with its own balcony. Very quiet at night no light or noise pollution. The staff do not really speak English so it’s a good chance to practice French, German or Dutch as they speak all of these. We had a great time and would highly recommend it as a destination to relax even with the evenings ropey entertainment which was...
