Before I speak about the negatives, I want to say the staff in the hotel were very helpful and kind, the bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. The garden was beautiful and the exterior decor was also great. The included breakfast had great variety for veg and non veg and was delicious. The room we were given was room number 4. Ever since we entered the room, the stay started becoming more and more disappointing. Firstly, the smell. There were no room fresheners and we could not see any diffusers either so it was clear no effort was made to try and make the room smell nice. The room also had very little natural light which made it quite damp. Secondly, the toilet door was not locking. There was no electric kettle or any means to make a quick cup of coffee or tea. Coming to the furniture, the couch looked and felt old and dusty, so much so that we were not very keen to even sit on it. It had stains and looked like something that was picked up from the street, not to mention, it was also smelling bad and mouldy. The table in the room was full of scratches and really did not do anything more than make the room look worse. On looking behind, i also found a web full of spiders. All these experiences combined made it a pretty horrible experience for us. I would not mind all this if the price was lower but spending 136€ a night, I did not expect this. I also want to add that this was my experience in room 4 and I am not aware of they keep all the rooms in this condition or if they have...

No vending machines. Don't forget to bring a wall plug adapter to convert into the round type plugs that are used in Belgium. Overall, the area around the hotel looks very safe even though it is completely empty at night. Shops are at least 15 minutes walk. Lots of students, happy, positive, (but very quiet) environment. Buses are close by. Train runs close to the hotel, but I never really heard the trains because they are so silent and smooth and they don't blow their horns or sirens. Local people were super, super, friendly and all could speak English ( even though you will not see any signs in English anywhere). While having a restaurant is convenient, I didn't really like their food. And The closest fast food chain is beyond walking distance so I took my chances with local restaurants about 15...
Read moreWe stayed only one night in this hotel... and we are very happy with our choice. The staff is very friendly and helpful; easy and fast check-in. We liked the quiet location and the beautiful surroundings with 3 restaurant options just across the street. Parking is quite easy in a nearby street and is free of charge. Reaching the city center took us about 20 minutes on foot; we got a little bit lazy on the way back and took bus number 2 which left us right across the street to the hotel. Easy, easy! |Our room was very spacious, spotless clean and comfortable with its en-suite bathroom. The mattress was a little bit too soft to our taste and the room a little bit dark, but these were not big issues. WiFi in the room was surprisingly bad though. |Breakfast was excellent. |Overall, we found the value provided by Hotel The Lodge Heverlee to be very good in the context of the many places we visited during our trip in Belgium. We highly...
