Very disappointing, i've read some of the reviews and yes, i was aware that some were not complimentary but i thought it could be a one-off. Well, when i arrived, the girl at the reception did not speak english, so i used my google translator to explain that i'm checking in for 2 nights, she then rattled off in Spanish to me, obviously, not realising that I dont speak Spanish even though i had to use the google translator. When i tried to explain that i dont speak Spanish, she just laughed at me. Anyway, managed to get my room. The hotel is pretty big and they put me in a room furthest away from the reception, the room was large n had a good view of the mountaint but the room was terribly dirty, furtniture were broken, curtains hanging off the rails, windows that dont open n there were no necessities that were mentioned in the hotel website like hair dryer, or TV. The TV is in the room and i asked for the TV remote but the same lady rattled off something and said no TV and laughed again! Wifi was very poor reception from my room. The room had a large window with a view but as the curtains were broken, i couldn't shut the light out n sun was streaming in very early in the morning. They also claimed that power points would be closed to the bed, no such thing, it's right at the other end of the room and it was partially broken point. i had to make sure the curtain was not covering it as i did not want it to catch fire while i'm charging.||Breakfast was a joke! I think i was the only guest in the hotel, went for breakfast n they had scrambled eggs which i think had been sitting in the heated plate for days, it was hard and dry and sufficient for one person. The coffee was just coloured dark water and again, sufficent for one person. The local bread was so stale that i think if i threw it on the window, it would hv broken the glass. Very dissapointing. I then asked if i could get my laundry done at the hotel n the lady said no . i thought the hotel offered laundry service but as i couldn't tell them in spanish what i read on their website, i went away looking for a laundrette, unfortunately as i was there for only 2 days, none could offer a one day laundry service. The only plus point here is that they have heating in the room, so washing laundry in the room was a quick dry. however it got really hot in the room n could not turn off the heating. Overall, a very disappointing stay at this hotel.||One other plus point is the location, it's 5 mins walk down the hill to the tourist areas, museums, churches and...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel and he has kindly documented our thoughts. ||||'I had high hopes for this hotel. ||Unfortunately it proved a disappointment, To be honest the staff were mostly helpful aside from the manager who didn't appear to take our complaints that seriously. Breakfast OK.||||To start with; the room we were in had a faulty lock. This was rectified by us moving rooms after spending the initial night there and finding that we couldn't lock the door - no big deal. Annoying and must have occurred before but not a major issue.||||We then moved to room two. Then the highlights begin||||||1. The room was freezing. So cold in fact that I thought about entering the world series of ice sculpting - something until then I hadn't considered. ||||2. One of the very few plug sockets looked like it wanted to kill me and anybody else I cared about. ||||3. The toilet flush broke. Leaving me to play my least favourite game of 'will it flush' - a level of anxiety I could do without. ||Fun side note - when this complaint was raised to the manager she came back with the reply 'it was working this morning'. Great customer service that the managers even try out the toilet when you are away for the day and you've asked them to check on the faulty shower (see point 4)||||4. The shower although tepidly warm, had the charm of spurting the minimal water power at 90 degrees to the shower head. This often saw me attempt to jam my entire frame into the shower corner and rotate to attempt to get wet. It had the occasional bonus spurt that would be directed straight into my waiting eyes - fantastic.||||This once again was met with the response of - 'the shower is working' from the manager. Easily the worst shower I've seen in any hotel or hostel - this includes baby wiping.||||In short - the rooms are a little dated and the staff themselves tried what they could but the customer service from senior management was lacking and something akin to the Gordon...
Read moreI always spend a long time researching a place to stay before booking and compared to the booking.com reviews, the TA ones come across really badly which I thought was unjust.||I stayed for two nights for what I felt was a reasonable price for the offering compared to others available. Yes it’s not been updated for some years and yes the yellow walls are a bit garish but it was clean and warm. ||Pros:||-good location, two blocks downhill to the main square, next to a pharmacy, no.1 restaurant on TA one block away, well lit and safe. 10b taxi to the Nuevo bus terminal|-helpful staff, one lady spoke English and was a bit more stern but offered me breakfast after 11am when I didn’t bother to come down and try it and the Spanish speaker was always smiling and helpful via google translate! Always someone on reception when needed|-hot water at all times, albeit with a wayward shower head, and a radiator in the bedroom |-laundry available at 20b a kg, mine all came back present and correct |-free water refills ||Cons:|-dated rooms and low lighting with dark furniture makes the rooms gloomy|-bad WiFi, sometimes showed a connection but wasn’t working |-beds are varied, might be soft or hard depending on what room or one you try, not overly comfy but plenty of blankets |-first room I was put in had a leaking radiator and the door wouldn’t lock. Was immediately swapped to a triple room with no extra charge and no fuss...
