For 90 bs per night for the room, we had a windowless private double opening into a courtyard with a very weak lock on the door, a shared bathroom a short outdoor walk away, a breakfast of two pieces of bread with tea/coffee, and the hottest shower I've taken in all of South America. There's no heating in the room, but with the heavy blankets and a warm hat, we slept warm enough at night. We had wanted to stay at the Koala Den, which was significantly nicer, with in-room bath, heating, and wifi, but it was 180 bs for the room, and they wouldn't negotiate, so we couldn't justify spending twice as much.||||Wifi is only available in common areas, which they often lock-up, and they occasionally turn off the wifi as well. The main woman running the hostel was tolerable enough, but the family (her family, I assumed?) living across the office who handled most requests when the office was closed (which was most of the time), was extremely unpleasant and couldn't be bothered for anything. Not for questions, not to turn the wifi back on, nothing.||||Note that there is no kitchen and not even anywhere to get boiled water. My husband had food poisoning and when I asked if there was anywhere I could get a cup of boiling water to make a tea for him, they told me no. Eventually the woman running the hostel persuaded someone living onsite to make me a single cup of hot water, but you would have thought that I'd asked for something extraordinary from the way they behaved.||||While the bed was clean and comfortable enough, the place is quite run down and could really use some simple maintenance. The primary lock on our door was broken and in it's place was a flimsy sliding lock. The door to the women's toilet room had no lock at all and didn't close all the way. ||||With a small amount of effort, the place could be so much...
Read moreFirst we checked the hostel on the other side of the street which was a nice hostel with beautiful rooms but humid and cold. Decided to stay in this hostel which offered a double room with private bathroom for 90 bobs. Room was clean and good enough for 1 night stay. The bathroom was very cold and toilet was falling apart and leaking water. Shower was hot and internet was okay in the room. But at night it was switched off. I got very sick due to the altitude and my husband tried to get me a cup of tea. Reception was closed and opposite side of the reception there was a room which the person from the night shift stays. She was very unfriendly and didn't even tell him where he can get some tea. Breakfast was average. They asked us what we like to drink and options were coffee, tea or coca tea. I chose coca tea without knowing that we were charged for 3 bobs for it. Which is not expensive but would be good to know before I drink it that I need...
Read moreWe had a double room with shared bathroom in the back of the property, It was nice and it had good wifi but when the sun went down it became a fridge. Enough blankets and hugs took care of the cold when sleeping but you cannot stay in the room. The showers were hot but the toilets weren't that clean and for the first day there wasn't any toilet paper. Also the beds were kind of poor. Nice family running the place, very basic breakfast, but for a few nights it was a...
