Libertador — Hotel in Potosí

I booked 2 nights here and then when I arrived at 9pm after a stressful day of travelling I was told they were full so there was no room for me. I said I had a booking (through Booking.com) and they said they’d cancelled it because a higher priority reservation had come in that day. They hadn’t bothered to notify me of that at the time and they also were not at all apologetic, just told me to go to a different hotel. My friends were staying in this hotel so obviously I wanted to stay with them rather than in a random hotel alone. One of my friends was sick so had stayed in La Paz so her bed was free. I stayed in her bed, which she had paid for, and then when I left they charged me the full price for an individual room. I argued with them but they would not issue a refund. We and our bags were all sprayed down with who-knows-what as we entered the lobby. We had asked for two extra beds to be added to our room, but they weren’t there when we arrived. When we reminded them, they did add them while we were out. Room was heated, so that’s a plus! The hotel is very dated, and it definitely didn’t strike me as a exceptionally clean, but tolerable with the normal standards in Bolivia. The shower was hot! My single biggest problem was the restaurant. When we went in for lunch, it was NOT clean, the table was dirty when we were seated, and the service was truly terrible. This hotel was fine for 2 nights. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and always smiling, which was nice. The rooms themselves were basic but clean and tidy, and everything that was needed was there. My only complaint would be the shower. It was small, the door didn’t close properly so made the floor all wet, and the temperature as very unstable. Boiling hot one moment admins then ice cold. But other than that the room was comfortable. Breakfast was basic but had what I needed (bread, eggs, fruits, coffee and some pastries etc). Good location for getting around the town. Overall I would stay again, however they list themselves as a 3* hotel whereas google maps says 4....
