My husband and I stayed for 6 nights in the Ombré Room (quieter one bed suite with a private garden). We visited during carnival holidays so the prices were eye watering. Apparently you have to expect to pay at least double what it usually costs and if you book last minute (like we did) then you have to expect to pay a lot for the room rates. Bc of the high price we were probably expecting more ‘bang for our buck’. ||The hotel is well maintained with a popular pool for those wanting to spend the day. The hotel is about 7-8 minutes walk from the main beach strip and this is either positive for the people that like a quieter scene or negative for those that want to be in the heart of it. ||We liked being a little away from the crowds as the hotel backs onto a slightly remote strip of beach with a fantastic hilly park. We had some wonderful long walks and beach days that felt truly special. We also had daily walks to the main jeri beach but always enjoyed coming back to the chilli beach sanctuary. ||What was truly standout about chilli beach was the quality and variety of food. This was matched by the bar and restaurant staff: absolute gems. We will miss our daily fresh juices, delightful meals and the smiling helpful ladies who cover the evening shift. They definitely deserve special mentions.||What we felt could be improved is the reception staff. The contrast is stark between them and the restaurant staff. Other areas for improvement are the quality of towels in the rooms. They were mostly discolored, over used/washed and just simply shabby. Some even had large threads hanging off - Not what you expect for what you pay. We also had about 3/4nights of very noisy Neighbours (shouting/steaming kids). This can’t be helped but you really feel like there’s no privacy or any type of sound proofing if you’re a couple wanting a romantic, peaceful stay. ||In summary: 10/10 for the restaurant staff and quality of food. 8/10 for hotel design and furnishings. 6/10 for room and...
Read moreOK, let's start with the positives:||- The hotel is quiet, with beautiful grounds and a laid back atmosphere. If you want to be a few steps away from the main beach scene, this is a good choice. The hotel overlooks the ocean although not the main Jeri beach (which is less than a 5 minute walk away).||- The food is delicious...when it arrives (more said later in the negatives)||- We had a two bedroom family room that slept five comfortably...with one on a bed in the living area. The room has a nice outside sitting area that is protected from the sun.||||What was lacking:||- The entrance to the hotel is ugly to say the least...some large wooden construction boards with a tiny entrance between them. No sign at all. Maybe this is the intent...to keep it low-key, but it struck me as strange.||- The rooms have almost no decoration at all...and the bathroom had a pretty bad odor coming from it.||- There was no security at all and the front desk (which is pretty dark and uninviting) closes at night.||- One of our dinners took hours...the first course took an hour and twenty minutes to arrive. Given, they apologized and gave us a free drink, but it was laughably slow service. Also, breakfast doesn't start until 8am which seems an hour later than normal. And you had to pull teeth to get them to give you a breakfast menu.||- For what you pay, I expected a lot more...better, more attentive service, some form of security, a nicer entrance, no major screw ups...
Read moreCan't attest to the hotel, we stayed at the Hurricane Jeri Praia next door, but the restaurant was EXCELLENT, by far the best meal we had in our week in Jeri and one of the best I have had anywhere. The restaurant is located next to the pool and overlooks the beach, and is done up in Caribbean white and pastel. Our waiter was very professional and attentive and took good care of us. The food was, in a word, outstanding. My wife and I shared a ceviche to start that was delicious. Her seafood risotto achieved that perfect taste-of-the-sea, and my pasta dish was outstanding. Combining the food, the service, and the ambiance, the meal was one of the most pleasing of our lives. We decided not to go back for a second time because we were afraid it would not live up...
