Pousada do Cais — Hotel in Região Geográfica Imediata de Angra dos Reis

Beautiful authentic colonial style hotel. Perfect location with welcoming and helpful staff. A big downside was privacy. We were placed on the ground floor after paying for a sea view. Although we did get the ‘sea view’, it was obstructed by a public car park right next to hotel. Because of the hotels beautiful look, the public were taking photos of the hotel especially in front of our hotel room. One morning I even woke up, opened the shutters and half a dozen people stood with cameras pointing at my room taking photos. I tried to leave the shutters open to experience the sea view we paid for, but people kept gathering and loitering around, therefore we were left with no choice but to keep the shutters closed and not enjoy the sea view we paid for. It was unfortunate as the room was dark the whole time, however we had to ensure the shutters were closed for our safety, as anyone could have looked in. We ultimately paid extra to have a car park view. If I were to stay again, or give you any advice, I wouldn’t pay extra for the sea view, it was not worth the money or the upgrade as we did not have the privacy to access...

The place is very noisy as you can almost hear everhthing the other guest are doing. The rooms are clean but basic. The beds are small and hard. There are almost no channels shown on TV. Wifi connectivity is good. |The breakfast is simple and most of the time it doesn't have sufficient amounts for all guests. The only really good thing is the location near the sea and the historic centre but this doesn't justify the prices. Def the best hospitality we have seen in a while. The whole family (including the baby) are super friendly, so you won't notice that the place is simple and still a developing. At first I was upset to be out of town (I was not driving) but then realised we had just been very lucky to choose this place. There's a very beautiful beach 5 minutes away and you can take a boat trip to many little islands. ||The breakfast is very good, with unique homemade pão de queijo.
