Recommendable all around from a taste-quantity-price and ambiente-level. This is a place for Brasilian food in its core with international twists to it.
Starters: We shared starters here and they were delicious. Grilled shrimp (Camarão) Ceviche (Peixe crudo, leite de tigre) Minor comments: The Ceviche could have had 1 crunchy element to it (In Peru it’s roasted maize for example). The fish was great. The shrimp was ‘drowning’ a little bit in sauce (though delicious); as I personally wanted to taste the shrimp as much as possible.
Main: Was a traditional fish stew with coconut milk base (Moqueca) and other regional ingredients. It was comforting and tasty. Bonus: They brought a chilli oil without request. It was something that opened up the flavours even stronger and was maybe the most memorable chilli oil I have tasted thus far.
Deserts: Chocolate mousse. Very nicely served in a dried half of a kakao fruit. As most dishes we experienced in Brasil, it was really a lot of quantity. It can be shared easily. Drinks: Jorge Amado, Coco were really nice - they were on the very strong end of the scale of liquor content (Depending how much you like cachaça, you can ask for less liquor or at more...
Read moreFirstly, when I asked a table for ONE, three people had to talk among themselves to then invite me in. The table offered was outside and the night was a bit chilly, they did not seem to care. But for the first time after many times in Paraty either alone or not I was having a bad tiMe with restaurants. So, I took the place offered and did comment they had issue to accepted single customer, the person gave me a shy - shallow smile. Only offers bottles of wine (no glasses which would certainly be a plus), food was good but not remarkable considering the prices. I ordered a dish called “mexidinho”, shrimp perfectly cooked while the calamari was not, indeed felt like chewing a rubber so that I had to ask for a napkin to get rid of it. Black rice a bit salty. Desert overall good not overwhelming. Bottom line, pricey more than excellent food. Also, I’ve paid good money to them so lesson would be, single people can spend good so just invite them in like any...
Read moreMy partner and I were visiting Parati for the 6th time and wanted to have dinner at this place again, after a few years hiatus from traveling. We stopped by after a hike to ask for reservations and I swear I have NEVER been treated so poorly by a restaurant’s staff in my life. If a restaurant in NY, Boston, SF, or any self respecting place ever treated potential customers like that, they would have a law suit to follow. The manager stared us down and said that at that point there were no reservations available. The other employee tried to seem accommodating and said they would put us on a waiting list and call us after 7pm. 7pm came and went so we stopped by to inquire at 7:30. The restaurant was EMPTY. They told us that we would have to wait to be called. We ended up eating elsewhere and afterwards we walked by this establishment - 9:30pm - to find it half full. They called...
