I wasn't impressed on my first few hours in this hotel. The front desk staff were curt and not very helpful, the room and bathroom was small and without hot drink making facilities, and when I tried to order my lunch via room service, no one could speak English so I couldn't order anything. When I went down to the small bar near to the pool area, the only food on offer was a pizza - none of the other options were available, including the sandwiches which I wanted. As I waited for my pizza to arrive, a builder was humping a wheel barrow full of rubble past me constantly. I was not happy!||||But, my experience did improve over the four night stay. The breakfasts were fine, in an airy room by the pool area (It doesn't serve evening meals), the pool itself is small, but clean and in a sunny area all day. Other members of the front desk staff did help me order a taxi so I could pop over to Paraguay, and the location is very central, with a really excellent restaurant directly opposite, and other good restaurants within walking distance. Access is Ciudad del Este, in Paraguay, via taxi or bus, and the bus to the Brazilian side of the Iguaju falls is right outside the lobby (Tours also pick up here).||||And the hotel is very reasonably priced (so I suppose you do get what you pay for!), I paid about £35 a night. So, a mixed stay, but a very convenient one for...
Read moreGood stay at San Juan Tour. Didn't get off to a great start as the first room had alot of bugs (probably due to the wet weather) and the second rooms air con wouldn't work, but with some new battery's for the remote we got up and running and it was a good from there on.||The place was generally clean but unfortunately, like many places we have stayed in S America, we found alot of hairs on room floor which wasn't pleasant. However everything else was clean including pool and communal areas. ||Staff were friendly, helpful and honest. I left my bag at the bar one evening by accident and the waiter came up to the room to return it at the end of the night which was really kind of him. Reception helped us organise transport to the Argentinian side of the falls (really worth the trip) which went without issue. ||Pool area and bar are a nice touch. They also do basic meals/ snacks too (pizzas, chips etc) which is handy and all are reasonably priced. There's alot of good places to eat near by aswell and it's well located for the public bus to see the falls on the Brazil side. ||Breakfast wasn't anything special but was good. Nice selection of fresh fruit which was a nice change from other places. ||Good value for money too. Overall a...
Read moreEddie Rivera of Pandora Tour company in San Juan did a great job of entertaining and educating us on a sightseeing tour tailored to our interests, not a standardized tour he could do in his sleep. He gave us an extra 45 minutes, suggested at the end we might want to make a quick grocery store stop (to avoid Ritz Carlton's pricy refreshments, which we did), and pointed out I had overpaid him. I said he had earned it.||||Eddie was helpful, entertaining, polite, patient and witty. He was easy to understand because he was born and worked in the Bronx for much of his life. I recommend Eddie completely and without hesitation. He clearly was proud of his country--Puerto Rico--as much as he was of I the...
