Grand Mercure SP Itaim Bibi — Hotel in Região Imediata de São Paulo

The hotel overall is nice - great location, big rooms and a very good breakfast!!!||But be aware of noise - not only from all the construction sites around the hotel (which is out of the hands of the hotel) but also from internal parties and conferences at the hotel. To get away from construction noise (and there is a lot!!) I was recommended by the hotel to book Executive room on the top floor (most expensive category) which I did - only then to realise that these rooms are just under the top floor conference facilities where there was a LOT of noise from event and live bands playing etc. ||The hotel management did not really care - I had to move rooms 3 times during stay - with no compensation, acknowledgement or apologies. The evening I had to move room because the live music was so loud that it was intolerable... the evening team at the hotel as basically clueless and not very helpful.. they just told me that it would go on until midnight.. and they would not move me to another room temporarily... but only have me to pack all my stuff and move. ||By no means a 5-star hotel...

Apart from potentially losing my life in front of my wife and child 20 feet from the hotel on a Thursday at 7pm, the pool was nice and the breakfast was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. We'll never return because I was held at gun point and I'm still talking to my child about what happened. The staff when we returned that night were not equipped to deal with such a situation. Igor expressed this is just something you have to deal with but he at least relied my concern to management. Still, after talking with management the next day the "comfort" we were provided was that they would contact the police department after we gave a description of the suspect. We paid a lot to stay in safe spot only to have a barrel of gun pressed against my chest at 7pm on a Thursday evening right outside the hotel. My stay Grand Mercure Itaim Bibi was great! The hotel is top notch. Excellent location in one of the best areas in São Paulo, Brazil. The hotel was close within walking distance to great restaurants, bars, clubs, and shopping, a very upscale and very safe area as well. ||Every room has a balcony with great views of the city and the Central Park of São Paulo. The room was exceptionally clean and modern, with a very comfortable King Size bed, excellent sized shower with great water pressure. ||The staff at the front desk were simply incredible, friendly, helpful beyond belief, they also spoke English which was very helpful since I don’t speak Portuguese. Hian, Dorival, Leticia, and George are the definition of GREAT customer service they all went above and beyond the normal to exhibit class, style, and intelligence, again just the epitome of high level customer service. | When I return to São Paulo the Grand Mercure will be the only place I stay.
