Mercure Sao Paulo Pinheiros — Hotel in Região Imediata de São Paulo

I stayed in this hotel (Mercure SP Pinheiros) for 7 days with my business partner whose mother tongue is Spanish. She had booked this hotel including breakfast from the official webpage of the hotel. We came on Sunday at 8 am in the morning and had to wait for our checkin time (2pm) as we had expected. The receptionist lady first allowed us to put our luggages into the lugguge room until the checkin time. Thaks for this opportunuty, it helped us a lot. Then she told us that we could have a cup of coffee in the breakfast room and we thought this is complimentary. We drank our coffees and left the hotel to go outside until the checkin time. After we came back, we could checkin easily. The hotel has many floors and there are 3-4 lifts, but we could use only 2 of them and this condition sometimes makes people wait a few minutes. Starting from the first breakfast till the 4th breakfast my business partner was asked for seeing the receptionist before going to breakfast during the breakfast front desk eeven though I was enjoying my breakfast inside with no problems. Then she was told that she needed to pay for the brakfast. She tried to convince the receptionists that she had already paid for a while. And then they allowed her for the breakfast. And the problem was not clearly explained as well. We did not understand whether the problem is about the unpaid coffee on the first day or unpaid breakfast. We decided to pay the coffee on the first day which we had thought was complimentary. After that she had to take the paid coffee and the documents that we our booking already includes the breakfast. This problem repeated for the next 3 days and she got frustrated. She really hated going to breakfast room in the mornings. Every morning we had to talk to receptionists. We had to repeat that we had already paid for everthing to different employees every morning until the last day. One morning we even asked a local professor that we know to talk in portoguese with them. But it did not help much either. While checking out our check out was not very smooth either. We had to make a long talk again.

Summary: This hotel has a lovely breakfast. The restaurant where the breakfast served is also nice for the eating dinner. Rooms/bathrooms are nice. I used the fitness room it is OK. Every night one of the employees plays the piano wonderfully in the lobby. However, interactions with reception and breakfast front desk were a nightmare. FACILITIES: A very decent Gym with a good range of weights and Cardio machines for a full-on workout. They also have a Swimming pool on site.
