Caverna Bugre — Restaurant in Região Imediata de São Paulo

Nice small restaurant semi-below street level across from the major hospital in Sao Paulo. I'm an English speaker. I speak no Portuguese and I have a decent command of Spanish. They have no English menus and the selection is quite extensive. I could decipher much of the menu and for the things that I had questions about I was able to rely on the exceptional service provided by the wait staff. I followed the recommendation of the waiter and was not disappointed. It's a bit pricey for lunch (~$20USD), although I did eat a really nice steak. I can't say enough about the service. The small room was worked masterfully by 4-5 servers. The restaurant was clean and the food presentation was more than acceptable. This isn't a haut cuisine joint in terms of the food presentation, but the portions are large and the food very good. I would definitely go back and recommend this...

A small, cozy restaurant I remember fondly from my childhood. Though there are few tables, the service is always fantastic. The portions are relatively large, and always delicious. The furniture and decoration feels like going to one's grandparents' house. Everything is in dark wood, and the chandeliers also bring a sense of "old times". Por indicação do meu irmão, fui conhecer o Caverna Bugre, restaurante fundado por um austríaco em 1950 e que existe até hoje no bairro de Pinheiros.

O Caverna é um restaurante familiar tradicional, com pratos típicos austríacos/alemães e brasileiros.

Para começar, pedimos a meia porção do Croquete de Filé Mignon (R$20,40) finalizada com sal de aipo - que deu um toque muito especial! O croquete tinha um uma camada bem fininha de massa e ainda acompanhava o molhinho de pimenta da casa que era super saboroso.

De principal, pedimos o carro chefe da casa: o Filé Alpino. Escolhemos as porções individuais de Mignon (R$79,90) e o de Frango (R$59,40). O de Mignon era coberto com copa, catupiry, provolone e gratinado no molho inglês. Já o de Frango vinha com catupiry, provolone e também era gratinado no molho inglês. Os dois pratos eram muito bons, mas nosso favorito foi o de frango. Achamos que a combinação com os queijos ficou melhor! O arroz que os acompanhava era bem alhudo, do jeito que eu gosto. O molho inglês era bom, mas achei um pouco enjoativo.

Para acompanhar, pedimos meia porção da famosa Batata Portuguesa (R$18,60) e nossa, foi meu pedido favorito do dia! Ela era muito leve e super fininha (quando não vinha aerada, o que deixava melhor ainda).

Para finalizar, pedimos uma Apfel strudel com chantilly e sorvete. Estava boa mas o destaque ficou com o chantilly caseiro, super leve!

O atendimento foi bom e adoramos conversar um pouco com o dono, Sr. Eduardo, que nos contou um pouco da história do restaurante. Já quero voltar para provar a famosa parmegiana!
