Hostel Plovdiv — Hotel in Plovdiv

My one night at Hostel Plovdiv was a curious experience. Given its name and the reviews I was expecting it to be an actual hostel. What I found though was a cafe/bar with blinds closed to the outside world and a few burly bald guys who reacted to my arrival like I might have interrupted their plans for an imminent bank robbery.

My room upstairs was simple, to say the least. But the bed was comfortable and the toasty radiator was much appreciated. The seperate shower room was big enough for a football team but it only had one balky shower head.

Even though this "hostel" wasn't what I expected it to be, it did the job. I was cold and tired when I got there and when I left I was warm, clean, and rested.

If you're looking for the hostel experience, this isn't it. But if you're cool with something different, or the potential of a bit of grand larceny, it's just about okay.

PS - The closed blinds in the bar were probably due to the Covid lockdown which prohibited indoor seating. I doubt the authorities are reading this. And the burly bald guys eventually gave me a nod...
