We stayed a Saturday and a Sunday night in two separate rooms and had two entirely different experiences. If you stay in an upper level room you will quite like the place, if you stay on a lower level room you will wonder why you chose it at all.||||Both rooms were non-descript lower mid-range rooms - quite bland and fairly basic. ||||Comments about the road noise:||There is no footpath outside the hotel, so vehicles pass within 2-3 feet of the building.||Saturday night: an incredibly busy road on a Saturday. Even at 2am there are 1-2 cars passing every minute, which you can hear even with earplugs in.||Sunday night: traffic noise isn't bad at all, in fact the whole area is nice and quiet.||||Comments about the rooms:||Level 2 rooms: rooms have a great view of the fortress. You can't see the traffic from these rooms.||Level 1 rooms: awful! So close to the road that you feel you are staying on a traffic island. Large coaches travel past and when standing up in your room the coaches come up to head-height (the windows are large). It's an extremely weird feeling to have people driving, walking and standing so close...
Read moreExcellent service! The hotel has an elevator and really nice and clean rooms, with a super comfortable big bed, tv, fridge, air conditioning, a nice desk is you need to work and - the cherry on top - a spectacular view over the Tsarevets and Trapezitsa (especially at sunset, when the light is great for pictures)! We had room 305, at the second floor. Breakfast is served at the sky cafe, at the 3rd floor, which has big glass windows and a panoramic view. The location is great (in the center of the town), close to the restaurants and markets. The stuff is very friendly and accommodating. Niko (the owner) was truly helpful, he gave us a map of the city and explained to us everything we needed to know. Don't hesitate to ask him about things to do in Veliko Tarnovo. Everything was top-notch. The city is beautiful! We had a wonderful stay at The Hill and we will...

Cons: - sometimes there was some smell of cigars, most probably from the 3rd floor, where was breakfast served. the curtains weren't long enough, so there was light in the room starting with 7am. (we had room 303, on the second floor) we had double room, but there were 2 blankets, 1 person size. the breakfast was really poor: some scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, bacon that didn't look so fresh, cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, some cookies and...
