Has potential to be very nice.
Pros: nice staff, cute decorations, pool, next to the River.
Cons: we booked 2 rooms: room one was not cleaned well (dirty footprints left on the walls in plain sight + egg casing from insects on the walls + muddy barefoot footprints on the tile floor to the room's entrance). Room two was not stocked with 🧼 soap and the electric water heater was not working (cold 🚿 showers).
Other thoughts: rooms have single pane glass sliding doors: the locks on these doors are poor quality and can easily be open (robbed = poor security); the rooms face a busy street and it sounds like cars and trucks are 10 feet from your 🛏️ bed ( very noisy). rooms have unfinished electric work (bare wires were lights should be) location: all of the nice places to walk are on the other side of the river. To get there you either drive/Tuk Tuk / or walk over a busy bridge. If you walk the side walks are in poor condition: narrow and lots of broken concrete to trip on.
We had planned to stay for 3 nights but due to the conditions around Kampot (horrible streets due to heavy rains and they are in the middle of a very large road improvement job) and the quality of this hotel we decided to leave after one night's stay.
This location has great potential to be a fantastic stay. Unfortunately Kampot is not a great place to visit in July of 2019 due to the roads (it will improve I am sure). And the small quality issues make guests feel uncomfortable. This hotel is not in a state where you can easily relax. Nor is Kampot ( at the moment).
I would suggest not writing this hotel off just yet : it can be improved. But in it's current state I would advise staying in another location. Stay tuned. Hopefully these suggestions will be acted on and turn this 2 star hotel to 4...
Read moreThis hotel and I had a bad start and we never recovered from it. But let’s not start with that. The building is new, quite attractive and effectively laid out. Although the rooms don’t face the riverside directly, it is right next to the river with a nice terrace overlooking the river which is also where breakfast is served. The pool is between the terrace and hotel. The room was large and simple yet effective. One thing that impressed me immensely was the huge bed. It was a humongous wooden structure of at least 2.20 meter long by 2.40 meters wide. I had never slept in a bed so large and it was quite impressive. The front (and entrance) of the rooms is entirely glass and opens directly on the galleries so if you want privacy you have to keep the curtains closed.|The downsides come in a number of setbacks I had with the people and policies. First of all, I was asked to pay in cash at check-in, no credit cards accepted. This in contrast with what is mentioned on Booking.com. Could be Booking’s fault, could be theirs but in general I don’t like cash-only places. I had quite an argument about that, also the following morning when it was time to pay. Suffice to say, they blamed the whole thing on Booking. Which is fine, just that it should not be my problem but theirs.|In short, if you want to visit Kampot (why would you?) and you don’t mind paying cash this hotel is as good as any other and. Maybe even better considering...
Read moreThis establishment is entered by a major construction site (with associated terrible noise) and is located right next to a major road over the New Bridge, where continuous heavy traffic (from tuktuks to the largest of trucks) create a constant and infernal noise.||The exterior of the hotel looks sad and uninviting, I.e, It needs a huge and important facelift sooner rather than later!||The unsmiling receptionist understood little English and spoke even less. There was no-one to assist with our baggage, and there is NO elevator on-site ... this makes an unfriendly “welcome “ even harder to swallow, when the so-called superior view room allocated on the third floor leaves one puffing and panting prior to a quick inspection. Whilst the rooms we saw were spacious enough, the bathroom leaves a lot to be desired (the shower is located virtually above the WC, making for intriguing manoeuvres)...and the decor could well be updated...||All photos of this hotel must have been taken a long while ago, and certainly do NOT convey a true idea of the actual situation. That said, I feel I should congratulate the original photographer for his achievements, because even with the most professional and sophisticated equipment no-one could reproduce such results today!!!||We decided very quickly to move elsewhere and, thanks to Booking.com, our cancellation...
