Twenty three bistro kampot — Restaurant in Kampot

My husband and I was wandering around town and looking food. And we saw a friend, he recommended "23" which is just around the corner. So we decided to go and take a look, which I'm glad that we did.

We ordered a pan fried garlic & chilli prawns with homemade linguine for sharing. And that's so delicious! It's hot, flavourful, the linguine is definitely to die for!

As for the main course, we ordered the crispy pork belly and seabass with white wine sauce. And we loved both dishes, it's sooooooooo good that I was doing my happy dance. And my husband was laughing at me. 🤪🤪🤪 (I don't care, hahahaha).

Both the pork belly and the seabass came with crispy skin and tender meat, sumptuous, flavourful, everything was spot on!

And we ended our meal with their homemade dessert. Lemon pannacotta with passion fruit, another dish that amazed us.

The host was nice, super friendly, we made jokes and had some good laughs together. Love this little cozy restaurant!

Honestly, it's been an ages for my husband and I to have some really good food. And we loved everything that we ordered today! Kudos to the chef! It's really really amazing.

And YES, we will definitely go back again, that's for sure. And also gonna recommend "23" to all our friends. It's totally worth it!!!

So, I was excited to finally try this place after hearing so many positive things about it. As an expat living in Phnom Penh, I was visiting Kampot with my partner and his father. But, as soon as we arrived, a waitress was incredibly rude to me. I genuinely didn’t see her when I walked in, so I was stunned when she snapped, "Yes, I work here! For how many people??" I’d like to believe she was just having a bad day, but honestly, when a customer arrives, they should be greeted kindly. A simple, "Good evening, how can I help you?" would have made all the difference.

Customer service is very important to me and plays a huge role in whether I return to a place, whether it’s a cheap local spot or a fancy restaurant. Since this interaction completely ruined my experience, I'd have to say confidently that I won't be coming back.

The food and service are amazing. Great food and great prices. The couple make a great team, fantastic experience. Highly recommend.

But we have one recommendation. We noticed many people walking by when we were eating who were curious but didn’t enter. My wife is an international business development officer in Cambodia and her answer helped. The restaurant needs more lighting in the front, or more color to look more inviting. When it’s evening it’s hard to see what’s going on in the restaurant.

Secondly, accept other payments, not just cash or bank transfer. Put a fee on credit cards if that’s why you don’t do it. People will pay for quality and also convenience.
