Seafood and Pepper in Kampot: A Flavorful Must-Try Experience
If you're visiting Kampot and love seafood, Seafood and Pepper is a spot you don’t want to miss. Located near the riverside, this cozy little restaurant delivers a fresh and flavorful experience that showcases the region’s two culinary treasures—fresh-caught seafood and Kampot’s world-famous pepper.
The menu is simple but packed with local flavor. We tried the crab with green pepper and the prawns in garlic butter. Both dishes were cooked to perfection—the crab was meaty and sweet, and the Kampot green pepper added a unique, slightly spicy kick without overpowering the dish. The prawns were plump, juicy, and complemented by just the right amount of garlic. You can really taste how fresh everything is, which makes sense since it’s all locally sourced.
The highlight for me was the squid stir-fried with black Kampot pepper. It had the perfect balance of spice and savoriness, and the squid was tender, not rubbery. Every bite reminded me why Kampot pepper is internationally prized—it’s aromatic, a little citrusy, and brings out the best in seafood.
The staff were warm and welcoming, and the service was quick and attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, ideal for a slow, enjoyable meal.
Prices are fair, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. It’s not a tourist trap—this place feels authentic, and you can tell the owners take pride in their food.
If you're a foodie or just hungry after a day exploring Kampot, Seafood and Pepper delivers a delicious experience that highlights what this region does best. It’s a flavorful, satisfying meal that’ll leave you wanting to come back for more. Definitely...

After reading many reviews online, we visited Kampot Seafood and pepper restaurant and we were not disappointed. The food was incredible and definitely worth the money. We normally eat a lot of cheaper local food but we wanted to treat ourselves to something a bit more special.
The food was so good, we returned the next day.
I had the duck dish on the first night, which was accompanied by a peppercorn sauce. This was 10/10 DELICIOUS. Whilst my partner had a seafood pasta which he thoroughly enjoyed and said was cooked perfectly with lots of flavour.
On the second night we tried traditional dishes and were not disappointed. My partner preferred the seafood Amok to the spaghetti from the night before, but said both were very good. Whilst I had Lok Lak, which was full of flavour and I am very glad I had it but I preferred the duck.
Overall we loved eating here. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They provided a lot of recommendations and were happy to help.
The wine was also a very good price and locally sourced.
They had a variety of pepper on the table also, which you were able to grind up yourself. This was a fun thing to do whilst...
Read moreWe came here for lunch having been inspired by our pepper tour. We tried the sauteed slipper lobster and the fish with vongole in white wine sauce, choosing the swordfish as the fish. Both dishes were very well cooked with accompanying fresh green pepper on the stalk. They provided an array of different kampot peppers to add to your liking too, with a sheet explaining which peppers pair best with different foods. I’d never heard of a slipper lobster before. It was kind of like a cross between a shrimp and a lobster but with a really strange shaped head. Most importantly though, it was delicious. There was plenty of lobster in the dish, which was accompanied by onions and bell peppers and came with rice. The swordfish with vongole was also nicely cooked and came with fries (although mash was optional too). Coming in at $25.25 with two fruit juices as well, it’s a little on the pricier side but was good nonetheless. Staff were very good and the setting...
