Grand View Guesthouse — Hotel in Khan Daun Penh

I really don't understand why so many of the comments are so bad. Maybe it's a matter of priorities. Let me break it down for you. This place is a great place to crash with good food at cheap prices served at the restaurant and some very kind tuk tuk drivers waiting to take you anywhere in town. The rooms are the cheapest we could find I'm the area so you shouldn't expect anything 5 star. We paid double for an ac room (10$ a night) and it was ideal. No windows but I didn't care, I'm there just to sleep. Ac was super cold and didn't see a single bug like many complain of. Maybe this is more an issue in the fan rooms on higher floors which have windows. We had room 004 on the second floor and it was great value for the low price. Sure the bathroom was absolutely tiny and the drain always clogged but these are the small prices you pay for the cheapest AC rooms in town. The staff aren't half as bad as people state either. The 2 girls and I suspect mother who run the kitchen are very friendly and have great senses of humour, and the food was always good. You can get a tuk tuk to both s21 and choeung ek for up to 25$ from the drivers here. You may be able to find cheaper elsewhere but for the convenience it's a good rate. I stayed here 2 years ago but only because I couldnt stand another night at 10 Lakeside next door. 2 minutes after being in my room a prostitute knocked on my door. They must have told her which room I was in. This year I came back to check the rooms because I was staying somewhere even worse.. They showed me a room I liked so I prepaid it. Came back the next day and they'd given it to someone else. So they offered me a room without a bathroom, then gave me a room with ants all over the bed. So I got upset. The owners wife hated me straight away, for no reason. I stayed here for 5 days because I was sick and she was angry with me every time I talked to her. There were no mirrors in either room making it impossible to shave. And a tourist died of a drug overdose at 10 Lakeside next door while I was there.
