We came here to visit the ‘Elephant bar’ to try the Phnom Penh Sling. Guess it was a must try sort of thing when in Phnom Penh. We arrived here at about 20:30, there were 2 groups already there. One particular group of about 5 ladies were laughing and talking so loudly we could hear them even though we were seated at the entrance and then at the end of the bar. We were seated next to another group of 4, who were also talking loudly due to the fact the first group was so loud. We were definitely not relaxed. That is not the worst until the piano player came. With 2 groups talking loudly, the pianist played even louder. His repertoire consisted of agitated music. So, can you imagine, loud angry piano music, loud laughing and talking guest. It was definitely not my version of a relaxing evening. In the end, my husband and I took our drinks and walked and sat at the lobby. At last, peace and quiet. I am hugely disappointed with the ambience. One young couple came in, sat down at the elephant bar for about 8 mins, walked out, saying it was too noisy. It really sounded like a ‘fish market’. Staff should be trained to politely tell guest to keep the volume down so as not to disturb...
Read moreWas looking forward for a high tea gathering with some visitors who were in P.P for visit. However our excitement and experience was spoiled this evening by one of your serving staff, who mumbled at us, scowled, rolled her eyes and walked away after we asked her politely if our Christmas high tea set was ready to be served. We were a bit confused as we were not even complaining or putting up a fuss. Fortunately, we were attended by another waitress who was much friendlier and chirpier. Could you please check on some of your service staff as one rotten apple may spoil the whole barrel. Well, don't think I'd be back again and will not recommend/entertain friends at this place after this incident. Seriously, this is the first time I've experienced such bad customer service in P.P and it had to be at the Raffles :-( A very disappointing...
Read moreElephant Bar in Raffles Hotel is a must if you're a cocktail person and visiting Phnom Pehn. Expensive (very) - yes, but the drinks are excellently balanced and beautifully presented. The staff is very friendly, professional and attentative. As soon as your drink is running up, their there and asking if you would like a refill, no waiving your hands nor seeking their attention needed. Tried two cocktails and a bottle of the excellent local beer - "Cambodia" (chilled - thank you). I drank the latter straight out of the bottle. Along with the drinks comes very nice snacks: a mix of various nuts and banana (?) Chips. If you're into low budget or geniun local experience, stay away. Go here if you appreciate elegance, craftmanship and personal service. I...
