Absolutely terrible. We chose to stay here because of nostalgia, and online it seemed that Coast had made many upgrades and done a lot of renovations. If anything, I suppose you could say it is a TLC-inspired paint job. Trying to cover up the old junk and did a poor job at it.
I'll explain the photos.
The fridge: missing shelves and other pieces inside.
Crack in the sink.
Water damage from the shower since they put in these new, large, walk-in showers that have no door or cutrain so the water just pours out onto the floor (and baseboards). (See following image of the shower itself)
My charger was falling out of the outlet.
The water damage on the other side of the bathroom "door" frame.
Some kind of filth.
Grout is disgusting.
Unless you go in winter the curtains will be letting in light early, no chance of sleeping in on your vacay.
The bathroom "door" is a sliding barn door, with only a track on top which means it swings out, there is no handle or lock of any kind. To open you have to try to grasp the edge.
The second most "fun" part of our stay! This weird bug in the bathroom!! Picture and video.
This gross carpet they still have, which was STICKY.
More stains or something on the bedside table.
Ground floor means your window opens right onto the parking lot like a motel. Lots of what seemed to be oilfield or construction workers staying here so you will be able to enjoy the sound of diesel trucks running and guys coughing, hacking, and spitting first thing in the morning.
The most "fun" part of our stay? NO HOT WATER. We were told this "happens sometimes". Front desk told me they were sending maintenance, this is the housekeeping manager. He took apart the shower handle, telling me how some of the rooms have this problem. He couldn't fix it. He told me that they would be able to get us into another room so we could shower. A few minutes later I got a call from the front desk telling me that the boiler was broken. So, no hot water in the whole hotel.
Last photo of a thing hanging out of the bathroom ceiling.
We were coming to Edmonton from within Alberta for a mini staycation. We were supposed to stay for two nights. We got in at about 11pm, if it hadn't been so late I would have left immediately. Obviously, the bug and lack of hot water finalized our decision to spend our second night elsewhere. The one pro I will say about this place is that they did not argue at all when I said we were checking out early and suggested they not charge us for the one night. However, I will absolutely never...
Read moreJune 2023||Stayed for 5 nights in a pet friendly room, the only option for pet friendly is your basic two queen bed on ground level. This room type has a mini fridge but no microwave, the door to the bathroom slides and has no lock. It was convenient to take the dog outside to a grassy area just down the hall from our room. There is a key card for the side door to the outside but it was never locked. The cleanliness of my room was not great, the floor specifically. Along the edge of the floor beside the bed near where the blankets laid was filthy and my feet were dirty from the floor, the rest of the room was good. I did not have cleaning done my entire stay because of having pets with me it is hard to get them out of the way so I never mentioned it but you should not come in to your room and have the floor not clean.||Be aware that the pet charge is per pet $20 a night.||The pool area is great and the highlight of the hotel. It has a waterslide that my kids very much enjoyed, fun for adults too. The pool is big enough that you can swim away from the area of the slide and not worry about getting hit by people coming off the slide. The hot tub is big and really neat looking with lights, but way too hot. I couldn't sit in it for more than a minute, it hurt the skin it was so hot. I mentioned it to the front but they said they keep it at 104 and check it daily, I was disappointed that it was too hot to enjoy.||I really like the atrium style interior where the pool is, and there is a nice sitting area outside of the pool that you can look in through a glass wall and tables you can sit at. There is a neat bridge with water below you walk across to get to Montanas located inside the hotel.||There is a gym on the upper level with a view of the pool and atrium below.||Breakfast is included at Montanas, but it was not good. I ate there 4 out of the five mornings and it was the same every single day. Only one morning there was fruit, there was sausage, egg, pancake, toast and chunky hashbrowns. One type of juice, water and coffee. You have a ticket you hand the waitress then serve yourself. Temperature of the food was not hot enough and it didn't taste fresh except for one morning. One day the pancakes were so hard they were inedible. I appreciate breakfast being included but it should at least be satisfactory in freshness and changing it up each day. We ate at Montanas for supper a few times and the experience was much better, the food was good and fresh then.||Staff was friendly and helpful, but our stay was...
Read moreI arrived to the hotel I thought this is such a beautiful place and when I went inside it looks wonderful and I was very happy to see there’s a Montana’s attached inside and the pool in the hot tub looked so pleasing, I was excited to stay and perhaps stay another night. But unfortunately the hotel did not meet my expectations by far, there were multiple issues when I have arrived. Firstly, upon entering the pool area, some doors are closed off, there were no signs or arrows to point where to the next entrance was (there were a few people stated that as well, we had to walk around and ask people.
Secondly, the hot tub was def not even near hot, it was barely warm I stayed in not even 10min and got out I was freezing. The hot tub was also extremely dirty, full of hairs and debris, I over heard a couple pointing at it as well and a lady got in and left as she noticed as well.
My room was def not cleaned up to par as the drawer to the bed had candy in it and used Kleenex’s, the bathroom door bottom trim was full of debris/dust and the shower along bottom had full or orange/pink residue which is built up bacteria (I own my cleaning business so I know this). I’m almost 100% sure the bedsheets weren’t changed as I could smell sweat from them, and they did not feel or smell fresh, I slept with no blankets on me with my sweater.
I am a frequent traveller staying in hotels 10-20x a year and this hotel out of the many years and hotels I have stayed in has been the number 1 top for “dirty”
Last issue was the free buffet. Food was great, unfortunately there was only 1 staff to prepare food, take dirty dishes, serve customers etc 1 staff member should not be allowed when there is between 30-40 people coming in to eat. This young girl “Brittany” was sweating and working as quickly as possible and putting up wth angry guests as there was no water or drinks and food was running out, this girl had no time to do everything by herself. She had also told me they only put 1 staff in the mornings to do all which is absolutely unexceptionable in my opinion to serve and clean up and still do everything on her own. Gary who is manager? Should be aware of this also. 2 staff minimum needs to be for breakfast Buffett it is not fair to these girls to work like this.
I would never stay at this hotel again, for all of these reasons that i have stated. I am hoping things will be improved and hoping my voice will be taken seriously and if other complaints as well to improve things. Sent...
