The biggest challenge was the front desk staff. They could not find group reservations made weeks in advance, and when my partner showed up on Saturday afternoon, the desk clerk had some language barriers, but more importantly, had no real interest in sorting it out. After fanatically spelling the name out and the reservation number numerous times, he finally found it. Provide the key, but not once could not crack a smile, say hello, thank you, or goodbye.
The evening attendant was not much better. We asked for a 12 noon check out on Sunday, and if he could even engage us besides being mostly non-verbal, I would have been surprised. Nohave a good night, thank you, etc. We ironically thanked him, but I now question why.
A colleague of ours with the provincial government. was next to the room where people were in and out all evening on bikes. Most likely a situation where some dealing was happening. I realise that it cannot be policed all the time, but it does leave one wondering about the state of security in the hotel.
The room was fine, but the carpets desperately need cleaning, and the furniture should eventually be replaced. It is pretty beaten up. My bed sheet looks like it had track pant lint on it and dark body hair. The sheets were clean, but wondering how that got there, I swept it off and slept in my own tracksuit to be on the safe side.
The hallways have a real funky smell, a cross between stale cigarettes and humidity and the carpets, well, they definitey need a deep cleaning. The breakfast was fine, so there was a redeeming...

The room was alright. Beds are a bit narrow for 2 people to sleep in together but it was doable, might fall off. It was comfortable though. Room has AC. One of the beds had a broken connection on a leg so if you sat on one side it would lean very much and maybe flip over if you're a bit heavy. This is room 110 if any staff sees this.
Washroom is fine, shower and toilet, has a ventilation fan.
Tv is kinda bad quality, unwatchable unless its news or something.
There is an empty mini fridge to your disposal, its good. Microwave, coffee machine, tea etc is available.
There are complimentary juices at the lobby fridge and the juice is from Turkey so very nice.
Breakfast was alright, a bit busy but its because of the people in the bus and tight schedule. Breakfast war included had scrambled eggs, sausages, yoghurt, juice, bars, bread bagels and those british muffin things, muffins, cereal, jam, creamcheese, and a waffle machine station + apples and oranges. Also coffee machine, apparently coffee tasted bad so that's for you to check.
There is a small gym area, didnt use it. And I'm not sure about a swimming pool, didnt see any signs but there might be one.
Location is good, supermarket, pizza, and some small shops and pharmacy nearby.
4 star just to be nice, its an ok hotel...
Read moreLady at the front desk couldn't find our reservation.... she then made "new" booking. Asked for our credit card for deposit... then she wanted our debit card for room payment. When asked what was the price for the exact reservation we had, the price was doubled to over 400$ plus the deposit. At this point, we didn't sign anything. We said there's no way we are paying double the price as what we were told when we reserved weeks ago. Requested our credit card and bank card back and told them never mind. Within an hour, I received multiple transaction reports for both my debit and credit card.... they cleaned out our bank account with multiple transactions and also our credit card. Went back to request a complete refund when we said we weren't taking the rooms.
The lady had a snarky attitude. Welcome back I can give you guys your room cards.. room cards for what? We told you no we weren't taking them at double the price. I'm asking you to return all funds to our accounts. She refused. Said the only thing she would give us is room keys. No thanks! We want our funds back, we won't be staying here. Refused again. So we told them we would be in contact with head office, our banks and the rcmp for unauthorized usage of our cards and cleaning out our accounts.
