This is no ordinary restaurant , this is a story of accomplishment , family , and having a second home . When you first walk into the restaurant the feel of the restaurant is amazing it's very very classy decorated. But not too over the top. You look at the menu and you see the amazing selection of food and you can't decide what to pick . But when you finally choose your amazing meal which for me was a combo number 6 and some fried wontons . You sit down and enjoy your experience . The food comes to you as you sit hungry and angstately . The moment you take a bite into those spare ribs the juices melt on your tongue and coat your mouth and what I like to call the home experience. This restaurant is ran by an amazing family if you're lucky enough to get the server / waiter Jason then your experience will be 10 times better . Jason is a younger fellow with an amazing attitude and he's always very happy to be with the customers and to be working . He gives that restaurant an amazing home feel. As you're sitting around basking in The amazing flavors of the spare ribs you take a bite of the wontons and your mouth gets coated with this amazing fried flavor I believe it was beef but I'm not quite sure I wish I knew because it tasted so amazing. I couldn't even ask my mouth was too busy enjoying every single flavor profile that these wontons could give me . Then we get to the chicken balls . Now if you're someone who holds flavor highly these chicken balls are amazing . You're the perfect kind of chicken balls that I like very bready but the breading taste amazing . And the chicken is extremely flavorful. And then the egg rolls and the chow mein now I'm not somebody who isn't familiar with egg rolls and chow mein personally I don't like the two. But this being my second time ever eating at Mais I can confidently say that this is the only restaurant and the only place and even when it comes to home cooking where I could ever enjoy egg rolls and chow mein holy jumping Jesus . The chow mein is absolutely packed with flavor extremely umami and so delicious and that egg roll on top is absolutely amazing . Then we get to the egg fried rice which for me was just the filler on top of everything I had sat there and ate my food and I tried so hard to finish it but it was so filling I managed to eat the entire dish and my side and I sat there looking at this empty play knowing that I conquered not only this plate but gained a new sense of home and love . With this restaurant it's that sense of home that sense of accomplishment a hard-working family making their dreams come through with the love of food . The older being an amazingly strong woman who overcame a lot the two sons being amazingly friendly workers. This is the restaurant that you want to go to consistently so you become a regular because when you become a regular at Mais , you become a part of the family. That is what the experience is about when it comes to food. We're all different we all have different taste we all order different food we all have favorite drinks but no matter what if you go to Mais there will always be a dish for you . If I could give this restaurant a million stars I would there is no better experience in Bathurst New Brunswick Canada and in fact there is no better experience in New Brunswick PERIOD. If you get the lovely chance to be able to eat at this restaurant make sure you take that chance with Grace so you can experience what it's like to be home again for the first...
Read moreThe City of Bathurst is so lucky to have such a wonderful restaurant such as Mai"s. The food that is created there is so delicious and memorable! This restaurant is a GEM and I highly recommend all of the dishes both Chinese and Thai . There Pad Thai is to die for and their special Wong Tong makes my mouth water just thinking about it! Their stir fries are awesome and I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who want an Asian food experience. Thumbs up to the staff and kitchen staff, well done folks, we are proud to have you here in...
Read moreWe went and my fiancée ordered the Chinese. Half way through she finds a black hair in her food. Not one of ours. Understandably she stop eating and we tell the staff. They offer to "make her a new one" which she agrees but asks for it to go. We get home and they didn't "make her a new one" they gave her a portion even smaller than what she sent back. We're so insulted they couldn't even replace the meal with a full order when we found a hair! Most restaurants would offer to comp the whole meal not less than half. Very bad way to handle...
