We had the pleasure to stay at some wonderful places over the years, but I think it's safe to say that this is the most beautiful place we've ever been. The care and thoughtfulness that was put into Kitoki is unlike anywhere else we've ever been. From the beautiful shortbread cookies that are paired with the guest guide, to the wide variety of teas available in the kitchen, you truly want for nothing. Checking in is contactless, and for people who prefer to have their solitude in the woods have some actual solitude, this was a great start. On the first day we thought that 90 minutes for one bath house session might feel too long and couldn't imagine doing that twice a day, but between the rain shower, the hot bath, and the warm wood stove outside, we melted into puddles by the end of the first session. The cabins themselves are works of art. It's obvious that everything from the ceramics to the bath robes were lovingly selected, and even the way the lighting was set up was beautiful at night, casting a warm glow while you curled up with your tenth mug of tea and read your book. Something about the fresh cedar walls and sprawling window overlooking the forest demands a quiet stillness. The 'shop' meant that many of the thoughtful pieces in the cabins we had come to love could be brought home with us, and any need or want for a snack, a cheese board, a book, a yoga mat, or even a hot cup of tea were either available to borrow or to purchase. What Kitoki has managed to do here is truly special - they have created a place that is simultaneously simple and luxurious.

Kitoki Inn is one of the best retreats you can book on the west coast. No kids and maximum of 2 people per cabin makes this the best place to unwind. It requires to be booked a year in advance, but it will be worth the wait. The cabins are extraordinarily clean. It is outfitted with luxurious kitchenware made in Japan, as well as premium towels from Itsumo. The bathrobes are from Pokoloko. It is minimalist, but luxurious. The bedding and pillow is super comfortable. Complimentary yogurt, artisanal granola, premium tea leaves, and scones are prepared for the stay. The private bathhouse is the highlight of this boutique hotel. It is also very clean. The bath overlooks a zen garden lined with tall trees. Each cabin gets a limited time to enjoy the bathhouse, two times a day, on a first come first serve basis. There is also a wood burning fireplace in the garden where you can warm up while enjoying the outdoor scenery. Full nude is allowed in the bathhouse. It is a humbling experience to be naked outdoors. Not to worry it is fully a private area. What's unique about Kitoki Inn is that their gift shop is by the honor system where you write down what you take from the shop, and you will be charged later. Only in Japan & Korea will you find this sort of practice commonly, but to see it here in Vancouver proves that we should still have faith in each other. Bear in mind there are few more rules guests have to follow compared to a typical hotel. However it makes the stay as private and high quality as it can be. Highly recommended.

Didn't get the instruction email and didn't get any assistance on arrival. Tried to call them and their voicemail was full..... I must say it was pretty bizarre experience on checking-in. We had to chat with all the other guests to find out which cabin is for us & how to park etc....which kind of defeated the purpose of the contactless (communicationless) check in...Other than that, we enjoyed the bath and relaxed here in the cabin. Thank you for building this bath. Sorry I couldn't give a perfect rating. I think with the kind of thought and effort you guys put in designing and operating his facility, you must wanted authentic opinion to make it even more successful.

Kitoki Inn located just 3 minutes from the ferry terminal. Owner Mitsumi will send you your check in instructions just a few days before your arrival. I highly recommend you to read through all the information as it helped us a lot getting there.

The road can be uneven, and stairs from parking lot to cabins. But good things are there is a loading zone just by the cabin in case you have heavy stuff to carry in. They also offer electric charger for those who needs.

There are in total of 3 cabins, a little gift shop and one bathhouse on the property. The cabins view is looking into the woods, and your bed will be facing the window to which it is a treat to wake up to. Cabin was sparkling clean, bed sheet was obviously cleaned and new! Inside the cabin, you have a kitchen with essentials like induction stove, some pots and pan, utensils. With provided items you should be able to make something simple. Kitoki is very heart warming by providing shampoo, conditioner and body wash, also lotion and hand wash. They also provide towels and bathrobes! There is also a tiny outdoor area outside your cabin, there are two beanbags for you to enjoy, sadly it was too cold for me otherwise I would love to do so! Only thing is bring some flip lops for traveling to and from bathhouse.

Kitoki Inn has booklet as manual for everything inside the cabin, give it a read. It will help you to know more about your cabin to create your best nights. They also provided some suggestions on trails around, and it was fun as we followed one of them! Outside cabin there is this little gift shop and inside you will find some good Japan gems , also some shared books or games.

Bathhouse located just a few steps from cabins, it included a showering, change room and bathroom, right outside there is a fireplace. The hot tube when not in use it being covered to maintain the heat. The temperature is just right, not too hot nor cold, my body was able to relax and get the blood circulation going. Kitoki Inn also provide some essential oil diffuser, towels and cold water for you if you need any.

Kitoki Inn was very communicative and detail orientated, I really enjoy my stay. They responded to my email really fast and able to answer my questions. My experience here had been amazing, I was able to be just 20 minutes away from Vancouver and escape into the woods with a taste of Japan.

Kitoki Inn only allows 2 person per cabin, and no children under 12 years old. This is a def a couple get away, I also highly recommend couples or people who need to recharge to come here! Also recommend only to those who are respectful of their rules and privacy of others to come. This concludes my review and I look forward for my next stay.

Thanks...

What a stay! Took us about 40 minutes to get here from downtown Vancouver. It really felt like we were transported to another place.

Beautiful and serene surroundings; enormous old growth trees, very natural, landscaping is minimal and thoughtful Simple and minimalist cabin design, amazing and innovative use of space Incredibly comfortable bed, pristine linens… that quilt! Carefully curated shop on site with everything you need (provisions, puzzles, books, ceramics, la croix, miso) Fresh, nourishing and delicious coffee and breakfast, great kitchenette with everything you need and more Lots of beautiful birds and deer on property Bathhouse is easy to book, peaceful and soothing Curated guidebook with recommended hikes, local restaurants + shops, and sample itineraries based on length of stay

Strong attention to (every) detail

Already booked next year

Local faves: Alderwood Farm - tiramisu and veggie pizza, yes it can fit in your fridge and toaster oven, get 2

Tunstell beach - Decent place to swim, paddleboard and kayak. Lots of families. Saw an eagle dive out of the sky and eat a fish. It was wild. They have a pickleball court there but it’s “members only”. They won’t take bribes.

Snug Cafe - can’t go wrong with anything they make, great coffee and pastry program, sandwich special and salads are on point, guy who runs the place runs a tight ship and I dug it.

Mount Gardner hike - pretty, but maybe too tough on mushrooms

Riley’s Cidery - great (and educational) tasting sesh, passionate people with a great story, took 2 to-go

Bowen Island Pub - great Cobb and Caesar special, must have every visit

Happy Isle Cannabis - Awesome customer service, great place to pick up BZAM and...
