Having enjoyed staying at many Best Westerns before, the stay I had here was for a lack of better words, comical.
When we arrived, the staff at reception stared at us until I asked to be checked in. They quickly checked us in, provided us room cards, and sent us off without any directions as to where our room was.
As our suite was on the second floor, we approached the stairwell and could already tell what to expect from our stay. The second floor had children running and screaming throughout the hall, with their parents having a loud conversation outside their rooms. While we thought this would not be a problem once we got settled in our room, the noise continued for over two hours, with the door and walls providing no barrier to the noise.
We left for dinner and upon our return a younger adult crowd was partying in the hallway, complete with a speaker, and yelling amongst themselves, which we could hear from the first floor. When we reported this to the front desk, they allowed them to move outside by the back entrance in the parking lot (right under our window), where the party continued.
We then had to report this again to reception to which they said all they could do was ask them to be quieter. I asked if we could cancel our three-night stay, including that first night, as it was obvious we wouldn’t have a quiet stay. The supervisor told us there was nothing he could do and to call their customer help line (a 30-minute call that didn’t result in any action).
When we down a third time, we learned they cancelled our remaining two nights without any confirmation, refused to let us talk to the manager, refused cancelling our stay that night, and took no further action on the group partying in the back.
After multiple trips to reception, a request to cancel our stay, and indifference from the supervisor, we accepted our fate, stayed the night, and left the next morning (woken by children screaming at 7am, then vacuuming at 9am).
If you’re a larger group looking for a hotel with lax noise and loitering policies, this Best Western should meet your needs. If you’re looking for a quiet place to sleep,...
Read moreHorrible customer service. I booked for family members for a wedding and called and emailed multiple times to ensure check-in would go smoothly. Paid in advance and was re-assured that everything was in order and that nothing else was needed from me. Was told all my family had to do was give reservation number and my name to check-in.
During online booking there was no mention of parking fee but during conversation with their sales and marketing agent found out that there is a 10$ per car, per night on top of the of the price of the rooms. Was not happy about it because rooms were already non-refundable so they said they would decrease it to 5$ per car.
The day of check-in comes and I am bombarded with calls from my family members because major confusion with the hotel which led to one family members booking and paying for an additional room and another family member booking another room at another hotel. The hotel also charged each of my family members the full 10$ for parking.
I was part of the wedding party so I could not be present so I forwarded the emails I got from their sales and marketing agent to a cousin to show the front desk but nothing was done and my family members were still charged.
All of this added an incredible amount of stress to not only myself and but to the bride and groom as well.
After the wedding was over I emailed the sales and marketing agent to voice my displeasure and find a resolution but heard nothing back. I then tried calling their general manager and front desk manager but no answered until Thursday (almost 7 days after the incident). The manager said he will review my case and get back to me in the evening or latest next day.
I waited until the end of Friday and called back and was told that the managers were in a meeting discussing all of the incidences and would get back to me over the weekend or latest Monday. It is now Friday (More than two weeks after the incidents) and have not had a call or received any emails and nothing has been resolved.
I don't recommend staying here. Beyond frustrated with this hotel and would give less than 1...
Read moreWe came to this hotel as a team from Alberta for a tournament. Right from the get-go there were issues; the hotel was under renovation and the work was loud and started in the mornings but we were not provided advanced notice. Two families got yelled at when they leaned on the front desk, it was evidently a new installation. A number of the rooms had ant infestations. Staff information was inconsistent when we asked questions; getting towels and the rooms made up was like getting blood from stone. Icing on the cake was being told to sign off on a list of rules we had to follow as we were a team - I didn’t appreciate being chastised upon check-in like a naughty child.
We made requests for a space for the 36 people who flew from Alberta to gather and socialise and NOT disturb other guests, which were outright refused - no offer of options, though there was a beautiful space available. We were treated like teenagers behaving badly when some of the parents sat in the lobby to visit and now I see that the GM accuses us of “drinking” in the hallways and disturbing guests? Absolutely not true, and insulting.
Despite spending 5 days and $15k at this hotel, we were treated like a total inconvenience. During our stay in Montreal, we avoided going back to the hotel if we could help it, which meant we spent a lot more money at restaurants than we expected.
Additionally, my family asked for a late check out because our flights didn’t leave until 7pm, but we were told if we were there after 11am it would be a full night charge. Very nice.
Save yourself some misery and stay at a more expensive place downtown.
I do not recommend this hotel for...
