I was recently on a road trip from my home in British Columbia to northern Alberta where I was going to visit my family for Thanks Giving. Both on the way there and the way back we stopped at the A&W in Clearwater, and both times it was the worst A&W I have ever been into.
The first time we came in over an hour before closing time and nearly all of the chairs were up on the tables despite them still being open for around an hour and a half. We didn't really mind that much though, we got our food and sat down at one of the tables that had the chairs down.
The entire time we were eating the two young people that worked there were speaking loudly and unprofessionally, talking about how they wanted to quit despite the fact that there were customers sitting literally like 10 feet away from them.
All of the lack of professionalism aside we got the food and it honestly was the worst A&W meal I have ever eaten. The onion rings seriously looked like someone had butchered them. The batter/breading around the onion was completely cracked and the moment you even grabbed one of them half of the outside coating would just crumble off leaving you eating a little bit of the batter, but mostly just a cold soggy onion.
On the way back home we just so happened to be in Clearwater AGAIN around a meal time since it was a half way point in our drive. I didn't realize that we were at the same A&W at first, simply because it was night time the first time we went in. When I realized it was the same place I thought that maybe they just had an off day with their food quality.
Apparently that wasn't the case because AGAIN I got my onion rings and they looks like something out of a murder mystery.
Unfortunately the A&W just so happened to be the only place that I would eat from in Clearwater since I am a picky eater. Next time I go on a trip I would rather be hungry in the car for hours than have to eat something from...
Read moreYikes! We paid over $20 for 2 hamburger meals at this location - I don't know if these prices are due to the fact that this restaurant is out of the city, but in the city I have never paid that much. I don't eat fast food all that often, so maybe that is normal now for these types of restaurants?? The price seemed excessive in my opinion. The way they do their combo's seems a bit scammy.
It also took almost 10 minutes for our order to arrive...the drive thru was not at all busy, and inside the restaurant didn't seem all that...
Read moreNot one to leave a review but this place just had some really poor service, the bathrooms were super gross with no toilet paper and people at the front counter were not very nice. I know its just a fast food restaurant so expectations shouldn't be high but these days when were paying $50 for a few burgers and kid meals there should at least be a little effort made for descent customer service.
