Prepare to be Disappointed - Ramada Hotel Coquitlam My recent stay at Ramada Hotel Coquitlam was nothing short of a trainwreck. The service provided by one front desk agent in particular fell far below acceptable standards, and left us feeling ripped off. Right from the start, the Desk person handling our check-in was poor. Despite our confirmation clearly stating a 3pm check-in time, we arrived just after 2:30 and were informed that our room was not ready. Not a huge deal, but when we raised the 3pm check-in the agent dismissively told us "that website is wrong" and that check-in is 4pm. Futher, she defensively commented that "she wasn't withholding rooms from us". Her approach at check-in came across as tactless and unprofessional, and it was evident that the staff member had no intention of making us feel valued as guests. We requested to store our bags behind the desk, and be notified when the room became available. However, the promised call never came, and when we returned at 4pm to check-in, we were informed that our room was located some distance from the front desk, requiring us to reload our luggage into the car. We're unsure why this information was conveniently omitted during our initial interaction, however this showcased a complete disregard for anticipating guest needs. The condition of Room 407 only added to our bewilderment. To say it is in dire need of renovation would be understating it's condition; with rusted fixtures, peeling wallpaper, and desperately outdated bathroom amenities. The room's poor state was a far cry from what one would expect for the $249/nt. room rate. Our unpleasant experience extended to the hotel's amenities as well. While at the pool, my wife was approached by a swim instructor, asking us to remove our kids from the pool so he could conduct a lesson. No prior information or signage was provided regarding any restrictions. It was an unreasonable request to ask hotel guests to leave during regular hours. Later that evening we discovered an unexpected charge on our credit card from the hotel 3 days prior to our arrival. Upon returning to the front desk in the morning for check-out, the first desk agent that we encountered the previous day was working and we explained the mystery charge, even showing the charge to her on my wife's mobile. In response, the front desk staff member provided no explanation, apology nor resolution. Merely a shoulder shrug, more-or-less indicating it was our problem to deal with. At this time I had heard enough, and informed the agent that she had been poor from the start. Yet her determination to be right continued, as she talked over me and engaged in an unnecessary argument in front of guests and coworkers; at one point even involving an unrelated guest, asking "when I checked you in, was I not nice to you sir?" Her appalling attitude and lack of customer service skills were evident throughout the entire interaction, and when I told her I would be in contact with her manager, her reply was "yeah, you can go now". In over 25 years of travel, I have never once been this dumbstruck by unempathetic and straight-up crude behaviour of a hotel representative. In summary, our stay at Ramada Hotel Coquitlam was a series of misfires. The lack of professionalism and disregard for guest satisfaction displayed by the Front Desk agent that we encountered was wholly unacceptable. The outdated and poor condition of the room, along with the inconvenience we faced at he pool only added to our dissatisfaction. I would've felt let down at paying $89 for our 1-night stay, let alone the $249 we had to shell out. I hope this review serves as a red flag for future guests considering this property. The level of service and the overall experience was not only subpar, but downright insulting and well below the standards one would expect from a reputable hotel brand.

First and foremost, this property is NOT a hotel, It is a MOTEL at BEST. I have stayed at cleaner places driving across Canada staying in dive hotels that are $50 a night and this place has the nerve to charge almost $200 per night. Before arrival, I sent the property my check-in time of 3pm and they confirmed it. Then when I arrived, they said they couldn’t even find my reservation. They finally found it but went on to say my room wasn’t ready so to wait about 15 minutes. After about 30 minutes and us asking what the delay was since online it says checkin is 3, they blamed booking.com saying their website was wrong (but then why did you also confirm my checkin time of 3??) so I began calling other properties to see if they had rooms available because this place was a nightmare but everywhere we called was booked up. An hour later, im told our room Is ready but multiple people came in after me and received a room right away. Then we go to our room and the housekeeper is still in there, she tells us to “go from the room” because she isn’t ready. I apologized saying the front desk person told us it was finished and she snapped back “no I told him I will call when its done” So we trekked back with all our bags to the lobby again where he apologized and said he would put us in a different room (then why did I wait an hour for this one if another one was already ready?) We get a new key and go all the way back to a new room and we get into this room and the rooms were dated and dark as expected but I thought they would at LEAST be clean. There was hair all in the sink from the previous guests, the walls had weird stains all over them, the decorative sheet on one of the beds and 2 pillow cases were stained. The towels had hair on them, the furniture was chipped, fridge didn’t work – endless issues. There is absolutely no way we would have ever stayed here if we had another option but since I had already called 6 other hotels and they were all booked we didn’t have a choice. Additionally we were so exhausted from carrying all our bags (as we didn’t drive to the property) and we had been going since early so we just left it alone and dropped all our bags and went out to eat because we figured at this rate all of the rooms were going to be a mess so there was no point spending more energy on it. I would sincerely recommend that unless you are on a roadtrip and have no choice but to pull off here for the night, that you absolutely do not stay here.

Sooooo….. DO NOT believe the reviews on HOTELS.com and Expedia. It seems that the owners have loaded up a bunch of 8/10 and 10/10 reviews - and they are all fake. First of all - this i a motel, NOT A HOTEL. But that is not really an issue. The following is an issue that you should be aware of. The photos on Wyndham/Expedia/Hotels.com have been embellished with photoshop and this is not what the property looks like. It is, in fact, extremely run down and the fake reviews and photos are deceptive. Our room absolutely reeked of (cleaning?) chemicals. I don’t mean that lightly. Imagine what a meth lab might smell like. There was evidence of previous unprepaired water damage in the bathroom and closet area near the rear of the room on the floors, walls, and baseboards. There were cobwebs on the ceiling. The air conditioner was old, had NO filter, and had dirt and debris from a previous guest on top. The walls were dirty - including a large dirty handprint on the rear wall of the room. The hot tub / pool area looked run down, dirty, and there was no way I was going to go into either. There was a aap under the door in our room (which leads to the outside) where (I assume) weather stripping once existed. There was something splattered on the bed-side lampshades. This was really gross. The shower head was not working properly and water was spraying everywhere. Also, there is weird green lawn chairs everywhere around the property next to smoking cans. Disgusting Are barrels overflowing with garbage are in areas of the parking lot. The bedding was clean but we wiped down everything other surface. Unfortunately we arrived late - and there were no other nearby hotels to re-book - so we had to stay there for one night. The major thing to understand is that the pictures and (fake) reviews are totally misleading. It seems that this hotel (motel)’s owners would rather mislead you than actually provide a clean functional hotel that has been in any way maintained to even a basic standard. Shame on Wyndham/Ramada for not enforcing a minimum quality standard at one of its branded hotels and keeping the owners in check. Again - and I cannot emphasize this enough —— I cannot describe or explain the overwhelming smell in our room. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Pictures attached.

Short story = 100% DO NOT recommend - Read on to see why...

My family and I stayed here for one night before heading out on our long drive home. The location immediately was concerning to us to the point that we purposely moved our vehicle within view of our window and brought all valuables into our room. The room was stifling hot and the AC was not able to cool the room down at all. The windows do not have screens and are low enough that children could very easily fall out of if not supervised. The fridge was not that cold and the TV remote was missing the back plate leaving the batteries visible (not great with a curious toddler staying in the room). There isn't alot of plug ins for charging anything and I unplugged the alarm clock to use the outlet to find the alarm clock cord was spliced together with another cord and taped up with electrical tape (I decided to leave it unplugged because you know...safety?). We decided to take the kids to the pool to let off some steam and have a little fun before bed. The pool was not clean, with debris and clumps of hair floating in the pool. We shrugged it off because the pool is used by many including swimming lessons, which I think had just finished before we got in but still... After getting back to the room, showering in a very dated shower/toilet room (the sink is not in the bathroom), we decided to get cozy for the evening to find the sheets on one of the beds was questionably stained (I'm talking dried boogers and possibly dried blood...not confirmed of course) I went to the lobby to discuss this with the staff, and after waiting in line a very kind staff member asked me if they could help me (knowing I've already checked in earlier) and provided me with extra clean sheets and advised I chat with management in the morning to request a discount on our stay (but clearly this is an issue because they asked me not to mention their name during this request). To finish off the evening, upon looking out the window (looking out towards the pool entrance) we spotted multiple rats running back and forth in the parking lot. Keep in mind that we were relativity close to the water/harbor and there's a fenced garbage area for the local restaurant which easily attracts them. After a sleepless night, we couldn't check out fast enough. We did receive a 20% discount on our stay after chatting with the front desk, however the charge still seemed unreasonable for the quality of our stay in their hotel.

We will never...
