TL; DR: food was enjoyable Chinese-Canadian on the sweeter side; service was basic, not very great; and MANY HIDDEN FEES. They do not tell you that tea costs money (around $7, and what restaurant charges for tea?), and a MANDATORY SERVICE FEE that is basically a tip, but it is mandatory and they don't tell you about it!
After a long day exploring Vancouver, we were looking to relax and enjoy a nice, warm, dinner—and what better way to do that than eating at the restaurant below our Ramada hotel? We are also Chinese-Canadian, so we thought we would enjoy it. Everything started out fine. It is a decent restaurant that is very normal, with many basic Southern-Chinese itemr on the menu. The food is good, but more tailored to sweeter tooths. I would say that it is what Chinese people usually call "Western Chinese food." I enjoyed it; there was a wide range of foods for people with different tastes. The service was not terrible but not good either, didn't even meet basic standards. The waitress was cold and didn't look that interested in her job, with no passion to help. Compared to other restaurants I've been to, this service would be absolutely terrible. There hidden also many hidden fees on my receipt when we payed, and this made me really disappointed because the resturant was overall generally nice, maybe a 3 stars review, but thisruined it for me.They do not tell you that tea costs money (around $7, and what restaurant charges for tea?), and a MANDATORY SERVICE FEE that is basically a tip, but it is mandatory and they don't tell you about it!For our $56 dollar meal, we had to pay an extra $9.95 service fee. Honestly, if it wasn't mandatory, I wouldn't have even gave any tips because the service wasn't worth it. I guess they knew that their service wasn't great and that most people might not tip so they made it so we wouldn't have a choice. It's not that I mind paying, but at least tell us at the beginning instead of hiding it. Absolutely dissapointing and disgusting, would never come again and would definitere not...

Update June, 2025 We also tried the Spicy Chicken Wings Sweet and Sour Pork House Special Fried Rice
All tasty and delicious
We came here to try their Honeymoon Fried Rice Taste of TriCities special for $16.94 (12-6pm)
Haven’t been to a Canadian Chinese Food place in ages.. they are located right beside the Ramada Inn right off Lougheed Highway. Just here for the food and not the decor.
The menu is huge with Canadian food in the front and Chinese food in the back along with the combos. Apparently, they are famous for their western breakfasts.
We ordered: Trust-cities special - Honeymoon Fried Rice Satay Beef Crispy Noodles.
We appreciated the chef’s attempt to make the Yin/Yan curve for the Honeymoon Fried Rice. The dish is super saucy with the cream sauce with the shrimp side and tomato sauce with the chicken over fried rice.
The Satay Beef was super tasty and saucy, filled with veggies. The crispy noodles unfortunately was not as crispy as it soaked up most of the sauce.. next time we will ask for the noodles crispy on the side and pour our own sauce in.
The food for 2 was quite a hefty portion. We don’t mind all the sauce in the noodles and the rice.
The wait staff is fast, efficient and friendly and the restaurant is 90% pack at 5pm with phone in orders and constant turnover of customers. Our server, May, was super friendly, she even asked if we enjoyed our food.
They serve Canadian style breakfast and their Sun Star Breakfast is also on special during Taste...
Read moreThis restaurant is horrible due to how they do business they do not accept some of their items on menu are horrible and not as presented on menu and when we brought it to their attention they refused to take item off the bill rather they said they would not charge for one of the soft drinks only, our waitress was embarrassed but said it is beyond her control. Then we thought we would try it again as they now post specials on mobile bandit but when we advised we would be using mobile bandit they said they are not honouring mobile bandit deals.
We ordered breakfast and asked to substitute one pancake for hash browns they said it would cost another $2 This will be the last time we ever come to this restaurant and as i am waiting for our items we ordered they brought the wrong food
This place is horrible and should not be supported and people need to hold them to account for how they operate. Plus on top of all this on our last visit fire alarm kept going off in fits and starts and no one even explained what was going on rather it just kept sounding every 30 to 60 seconds and no one in restaurant left or was told anything .. it is like it is their way or the highway ... well we will take the highway and support local restaurants that care about customers and know how to treat customers and i really hope this restaurant goes away. No reason to have places like this one supported just let them fail due to bad management and outrageous policies and how they...
