Used to stay here quite regularly. Unfortunitly since my last stay i will never be returning to this establishment. I was told upon check in the rate for a single queen room for 1 night would be 179$ i asked if I could pay a cash deposit instead of using a credit card and was told that would not be problem. I was told the total was jus over 600$. After walking into my room and laying on the bed.. I shortly after noticed a large ant crawling across me.. I jump off the bed and brushed off the ant. Instantly checking the bed for any more ants.. I did not find any and was satisfied it might have just been the one.. how ever upon using the washroom for the first time I couldn't help but notice 3 large ants on the floor of the washroom. This was very unsettling to find in a hotel room. I can only image how many more ants are living in these walls. Now upon check out I decided to politely mention the ant problem in hopes they may not know of this problem and then give them an opertunity to look into it further befor it gets out of hand. After the room was checked over by there staff I was asked to present my debit card for the damage deposit refund, I was shocked when I heard them say that I would only be getting 200$ returned to me as the room rate was actually 359$ after long debate and me even looking on there website and finding the same room for 189$.. I was forced to except my fate and pay 359$ for a room that I was not satisfied with from the moment I layed down on the bed. I hope nobody else has to experience that level of stress upon checking out of a hotel room, especially after an...
Read moreFirst- I DIDN'T get to stay!! I had just got out of NIH- very early morning hours (2.30am) - and exhausted- unable to drive the 3 hour journey home- I googled hotels in Courtney that accepted 24 hour check in. 5 available in Courtney. Called directly- 2- N/A- then a direct call to Best Western- the 250- number at 3.09am. The call went to reservations in the USA. I was told one room available. Booked. Mastercard. Received confirmation number..drove to BW. Arrived 5 minutes later- Deep told me- "sorry Mam- mistake- no rooms available- come back at 3pm!". Obvs that won't work- options for me- at BW- NONE- he suggests- drive on Strip - 4am- to other hotels! Uhm- no- "can I just park in plain sight- sleep for a few hours- then leave"? Of course- Deep suggests- " McDonald's opens at 5am if you are hungry...? then come back- it's safe in BW parking lot..". The LEAST the hotel could do..?? I do this. When I return, I notice a new person- think I should go and tell them what I'm doing...my very grave error. This woman- the Sunday supervisor- orders me off the property- threatening to call the police! I have been a BW rewards card member for almost 40 years- anyone want ALOT of points? This woman! THE WORST HOTEL MANAGEMENT TEAM MEMBER I have EVER encountered. Bye Best Western. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel with this hire. No wonder this hotel- has...
Read moreNice hotel. Both times we've stayed there, one being a holiday weekend, had issues with room service, the first of which was a timing issue, which caused us to be late returning to Nanaimo to catch a ferry. Their excuse was that "they were slammed". It's not like they didn't know they would be busy during this holiday weekend, and they should have had more staff on hand to accommodate their numbers. They did comp us the breakfast, which we were grateful for, but we were still late and had to wait for the next ferry which was extremely late. Turned what should have been a 3 hour trip into an 8 hour trip. The other room service issue was again breakfast, the last time we stayed there, and at 8:30am they had no more muffins. They also had run out of hot water at 8:30am on a weekday (our first morning there the last time we stayed). That was inconvenient because it just delayed everything and I ate a cold breakfast, which sat in my room waiting for me to have my shower. Other than those incidents, the experience has been generally pretty good. Also, they, like many other hotels, don't offer Bereavement Discounts. You would think in a town like Courtenay, that is the largest retirement community in Canada, that they would foresee this as a reason people would need to stay at a hotel, to deal with arrangements of a loved one who is in a care home or...
