I am writing to you with deep disappointment and outrage regarding your decision to accommodate government officials during the recent cull of over 400 healthy ostriches in Edgewood, BC. By providing lodging and support for those carrying out this action, your establishment has chosen profit over compassion, money over life, and aligned itself with an unnecessary and devastating act against innocent animals.
The world is watching, and many are heartbroken and furious. Your hotel’s involvement — whether direct or indirect — sends a message that you condone this cruelty. At a time when businesses should be stepping up as community leaders, Prestige Vernon Lodge instead chose to facilitate destruction.
This is not just a local issue. Animal lovers, environmentalists, and concerned citizens across Canada and beyond are uniting in grief and anger. Your brand’s reputation is now tied to the needless killing of these ostriches, and the backlash is growing.
We urge you to take immediate accountability and issue a public statement distancing your hotel from this decision. Better yet, commit to supporting animal welfare and ethical practices going forward. Anything less will be remembered as complicity in one of the most appalling acts of cruelty our province has witnessed.

Read moreI didnt stay here but ive been using the gym for a few months now. From the day i signed up the old woman at the front desk has been rude and nasty with me. I started having issues with the treadmill and was told numerous times she would tell maintenance and she never did. I would get 15 minutes into my run and the treadmill would just turn off. No amount of pressing the reset button or turning the power on and off would get it to come back. I tried the safety key every time and that did nothing either. I finally had enough and told her i would like to suspend my account. The lady who runs the training program was so nice and said she would get a professional to look at the machine so I decided to wait things out, their suspension sheets start at the first of the month so I would keep going hoping that the problem would be fixed by the 1st. When I went to work out this morning she told me that if i was going to come back she would have to get the manager involved. I was never rude or violent. I work in customer service and try to act how id like my customers to. She also said im the only one having issues with the machine why would they bring some one in to look at it if its only me having issues. Theres no reason i should spend my morning upset instead of doing my usyal workout routine. Im sorry for any one else who has to deal with this...
Read moreI feel bad writing this but it has to be done. I have stayed here every month for the past 3 months anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks at a time. I am a diamond select member (just means i stay alot for work). I have used the gym every time up to 4 to 5 days a week. It is a main reason I book here HOWEVER, be aware they allow personal trainer to work out of here often with 4 clients rotating at once. As a paid guest and the hotel (primary income to the hotel) having the gym is crucial to guests! Today i was refused access to a area for weight training and stretching/cardio work. (There is no other space for the core/stretching i could use). The trainer approached me and said they were using it for their squat set, (4 rotating clients remember) I said there was no one here. She pointed to her client on one of the machines. I said are you using this now, she said not at the moment and proceeded to argue with me. YOU CAN'T JUST CLAIM AREAS AND THEY NOT BE IN USE! I ended up walking away. This is incredibly disrespectful and degrading. To be confronted and made to feel like you have to leave a area of the gym that is not even in use is sad. For guests to be bullied by someone who isn't even a guest out of the amenities provided by the hotel is extremely disappointing. I won't be staying here again.
