If there is something you need to see in Cranbrook it’s definitely the History Centre. While not the largest museum you will find it does have plenty to offer for a full morning or afternoon. While the Historic Rail cars are only accessible through a guided tour it is definitely worth it. They offer three separate tours showcasing Canada historic cars from different eras, you can also do all three in their grand tour package. While a small gallery there general admission has a whole lot. You have stories from the town of Cranbrook, an entire fossil room, and a huge area dedicated to not 1 but 2 massive motel rail sets. There is even scavenger hunts for kids to runaway the museum and do. They also have the wonderful Royal Alexandra Hall straight out of Winnipeg, they even use that area for various events and rentals. The staff there are very kind and friendly and go above and beyond. Since they are a NON-profit business they can only afford a small team, but each person does the work of 10 people. They are willing to do whatever they can to make your visit splendid. If a tour guide isn’t available sometimes a tour guide comes in on their free time so you won’t have to wait for the next tour in a hour. By talking to them you can tell they are very passionate about the Museum. They have a lot of projects planned for the future such as Gallery Expansion of the upstairs, and updated roof for the train shed. They got a lot of work on their hands and I am excited to see what the...

They said yes. We got there and they said we couldn’t look at the trains since a daycare came through. what a waste of time gas and money. The worse part was two staff were just standing there , one was picking at his nails biting them in the corner. Pretty bad one of them couldn’t just walk us through quick for my son to see . So we paid and left after 10 minutes . I want a refund they do not deserve any monies for that visit. Huge sign out front that says train tours open. But told to wait 3 hours for someone to come show us the trains meanwhile tonnes of staff doing nothing. How bizarre to come to a train museum and told after paying to get away from the trains.
