Deer Lake Horizon Hotel — Hotel in Deer Lake

Conveniently located right off the highway. Check-in was quick and efficient. Comfy bed and clean room. Dove toiletries were subpar compared to their retail products - fortunately I had brought my own. |Gym was small and seemed to have good equipment, though everything smelled new (i.e. pungent rubber smell). Did not try to use the pool, though the curving slide definitely looked tempting! |A good variety of breakfast options as could be expected from a HI Express: frosted croissants, muffins, bagels, toast, cereals, oatmeal, pancake machine, juice dispenser, teas/coffee, hot breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon), yogurt, boiled eggs, fruit.... and to-go bags are provided if you need to eat on the run! No Nfld specialties though, would have been nice to have some toutons at least :||Pet friendly room was near the fire exit with a grassy area (with BBQ and picnic table!), so it was easy to take the dog out without having to go all the way to the main entrance, and we could re-enter through the fire exit using a room key. |Biggest complaint: the building is older, so the hallways are creaky and the soundproofing is crap. A bunch of elephants checked in on the floor above us in the middle of the night, clomping around with the luggage and talking loudly, keeping us awake. No fault of the hotel staff, but may be worth investing in better soundproofing or more signage advising people to be quiet (there are already signs about silent hours, but I guess this group...

The hotel is close to the airport, and very convenient if you are flying in at night or out in the morning. The cab ride from the airport was $12 (it is not walkable). There is not very much around and the price was a bit steep considering the lack of amenities around. However there is a pool with a waterslide, which I did not get to try but I am sure this is great for families. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is not restaurant on premises but there is a restaurant very close by. I was told at the front desk that it was a 4-minute walk but it may have been less than that. The food at that restaurant is good. They also have food and drink vending machines in the lobby of the hotel if you don't want to go out. There are some sandwich and snackable options. There are also beverage vending machines on each floor. Their breakfast in the morning is very good. The hot breakfast is especially good but if you have an early flight and have to keave very early there are still some options like muffins or toast, which is great. The rooms were clean and modern. Unfortunately noise travels and the three nights that I was there, I culd hear people above me walking around all night. That was the only major downside, as well as the rooms not having all the amenities listed on the website, like an ipod docking station (that in particular was not really a big deal for me, it just irked me that they would mislead people on...

What odds?? I do. This place has the best Coustomer service I’ve had in such a long time. From the time we checked in (we were extremely early) we were treated with pure kindness. We checked in Aug 5 2023. I’ve never travelled to deer lake in my life and these were one of the few first people that made my stay here (one night) such a great time. Wilson oh man if I only knew this before hand. This mascot stole me heart just like he does everyone else. Loved him. Back to what I came to say.

Rooms very clean beds and pillows I found to be floating on clouds it was fantastic.

Bathroom- freaking huge shower lots of towels face clothes loved the make up remover and the soap hair conditioner and shampoo were such an amazing asset.

The pool- it was busy but it was a lot of fun watching everyone having fun on that water slide. Hot tub was an added bonus.

Hot Breakfast- it was great the variety was some good. I loved the persons that worked in the back the lady cooking bacon that was sweating her butt off to serve us you are a great asset. Don’t worry I sweat out all the toxins in the elevator going down to eat that morning so much I had to go back and get a tank top on. I want to thank all the people working here that I had the pleasure of meeting a very big thank you and remember to watch family feud Canada season 5 you might see us on there. LOL!! This wasn’t my last time staying here I look forward...
