I stayed with my family of 5 Saturday night of the 2022 Victoria Day long weekend. The stay started off well enough. The room was very clean, the kitchen area was adequately stocked, and the front desk staff were very helpful in explaining the health policies in place at the time. Unfortunately, many issues arose that made me question if I would stay again. First, the shower handle was broken in our bathroom. It was possible to control the water flow and temperature, but the handle had to be very carefully positioned or it would fall off. It appeared to be missing a bolt or screw to keep it attached. When I contacted the front desk around 6pm, I was told they could not arrange for anybody to come fix it, nor could an alternate room be provided. I understand it can be difficult to find a plumber during the long weekend, but the shower handle issue should have been caught during the cleaning of the room, when housekeeping must have needed to use the shower faucet. This issue should have been fixed before the room was made available for check in. Secondly, the breakfast room was extremely full at 8am in the morning. What could/should have been done was temporarily use one or more of the meeting rooms for overflow seating during breakfast time. Finally, the quality and quantity of the breakfast food was lacking. There weren't enough hot items (eggs, sausages) for the large hotel crowd. This resulted in many guests hovering and lingering over the empty hot platters, waiting for them to be replenished. When they were replenished, there wasn't enough before the hot items were quickly snatched up. I was able to get 2 fried eggs for my family of 5, but I wish had eaten elsewhere. The eggs were cold and overdone so they had the consistency of rubber. The only good thing about breakfast was the coffee was plentiful and I enjoyed a yogurt. Knowing there would be a full hotel during the long weekend, a much better choice for cooking large batches of eggs would have been scrambled eggs, and much more sausages should have been prepared. The breakfast and broken shower handle experience left me feeling undervalued as a guest, and wishing I had stayed at my usual go-to hotel (Homewood Suites by Hilton) when my family and I are in Sudbury.
I could only recommend the TownePlace Suites Sudbury for a comfortable bed and a hot cup of coffee, but sadly nothing else. I do not believe I would be staying again...
Read moreOn arrival there was no cups , two coffee mugs and one wine glass. We had to ask cleaning staff for more as we are a family of four. This one bedroom with separate living room with kitchen was to be fully stocked. We had also been missing some other little utensils. Upon going to the bathroom for the first time and lifted the lid up we found faecal matter stuck to the bottom of the toilet seat. Completely not cleaned. We had to request cleaning staff to come up and clean the entire bathroom. Not as bad as everything else as a family of four there was only one couch that only sat 2 people, the living room has plenty of space to accommodate a single young chair and would be beneficial for seating accommodations. Also we requested extra towels and pillows for the room. They where not provided and infuse was short one.
It is obvious that the room was not fully cleaned by staff otherwise the kitchen would have been equipped as advertised and the bathroom would not have dried clumps of faecal matter under the toilet seat.
The other is for the complete lack of towels in pool area. I personally asked several times and several people to stock the towel rack.......constantly waiting for towels for up to 30 min or not even getting towels. when towels would come there might be 6-8 towels yet maybe 14 people in pool not to mention that people where coming and going. I left soaking wet to go back to my room as there was only 2 towels so I gave them to my two children and wife to dry off. Even the next morning when the pool opened and when staff had all night to replenish the two towel racks there was no towels.
The internet is slow and is non existing in the pool and fitness area. when the water slide is open you lose half the pool (although it is for safety reasons) We paid extra for a suite and feel that the hotel failed in cleanliness and room expectations. On the plus side the staff where nice, the hotel breakfast was average with your normal offerings and it's complimentary, there are two outdoor areas one with bbq's however they face a very busy Main Street so noise is loud. They have so much potential if they can just get the policies and procedures correct and somehow a system to be put in place to check compliance to make sure all is completed even though staff should be able to do the job...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay at TownePlace Suites Sudbury and would return if passing through town again!
Compared to my last stay in Sudbury, this hotel did not disappoint and was more what I was accustomed to for the price point.
The rooms were modern and clean. It was great having a hot plate, sink, dishwasher, and full size fridge which proved itself useful and was very convenient for a quick bite. Some other finishing touches included dish washing pods, dish soap, and all of the utensils/cooking ware/dishes you would need. The bathroom was nothing fancy but sufficed. The smart tv worked well and it was nice to be able to watch streaming services (only if you already have a subscription) & cable.
The hotel does offer crockpots, blenders, seasonings, grilling equipment etc. for no cost. As well as use of the two barbecues on the patio.
My only critiques are as follows:
It would be nice to have a better variety at breakfast. It was severely lacking in this department. When I was there they only had scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, muffins, bagels, and bananas. There was no oatmeal, waffle maker, pancakes or French toast, or cereal besides cornflakes, Bran, and cheerios. Other hotels in the area have dated rooms but huge breakfast buffets. Just a note if this is something that matters to you, I would go elsewhere or cook breakfast in your suite.
As well, the circuit was tripped when we entered our room so the tv and wall mounted lights wouldn’t turn on until we opened the circuit breaker in our room to flip the switch. It would have been nice to know of this possibility occurring upon check in. Would have prevented any hassle for staff and guest alike.
Staff were friendly and accommodating. I did not use the pool area but did walk by it. Very busy but great for families, who doesn’t love a water slide? And the gym was clean with fresh towels available.
All in all, a solid choice especially given the inflated reviews of other hotels in the area. Thank you for the clean,...
