I would say it's 3.5 stars across all the categories. It won't let me do that so though.
Lobby was nice but you smell pool chemicals as soon as you enter. The room smelled nice and was relatively clean (hotels should implement a deep cleaning schedule for things like tile grout in the bathroom). The breakfast was just okay. Our last day we went across the parking lot to eat at Cora. I like that in the hotel breakfast area there's a bottle filling station. We were able to fill up before leaving the hotel. Wish the staff had pointed this out when I enquired about water. It would have saved me the $4 charge for two bottles of water from their market. The pool is tiny. Smallest pool I've ever seen. The photos were misleading. On the positive side, the few staff we interacted with were friendly.
Our first two nights there was a lot of noise. I'm not sure if it came from guests staying above us but it sounded like a herd of elephants and made sleeping impossible. Stomping mixed with clanging metal. It was awful. I don't fault the hotel for this.
This hotel was just okay. I'm on the fence about whether or not I'd stay here again. Before booking I was also looking at the Hilton garden (which is across the street) and went with this one because the rate was slightly cheaper and included breakfast.
The location is great. You can walk to Cora, Starbucks, Rexall drug store, the Keg. Milestones and Boston Pizza are a short distance away (you likely could walk if you really wanted to). It's also really close to science north.
The staff in the breakfast area were really great. They were cheerful and friendly with all the hotel guests and very accommodating with guest requests. They deserve some recognition by upper management.
Very disappointed my card was charged for wifi which was supposed to be included...
Read moreNot often I've had a hotel stay with as many issues arising as my 8-day stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Sudbury, ON. I'd moved into that hotel from another due to location issues, and was immediately please with the overall look and feel of the place. Registration was welcoming and efficient. The first problem: Internet connection. Failure led to two trips to the front desk, another half-hour an hour engaged with a helpful hotel staff. No luck. Following day about an hour-and-a-half on the phone with a committed, pro tech helpline dude, then finally a connection that was steady and auto-connected for the rest of my stay. The aggravation of the situation was mitigated by the persistence of the staff in working toward a solution. I felt supported. The toilet broke, twice. A capable and friendly handyman/plumber arrived promptly, a Newfoundlander named Dan who was a pleasure to chat with. Didn't mind the toilet failure so much, thanks to Dan's efficiency and pleasant, down-east honesty and humour. We compared notes on our Atlantic roots. I enjoyed his company while he replaced the inner-workings of the toilet tank. Next day, the toilet broke again. Chain wouldn't stay attached to the flush lever. Repaired by another hotel staff while I was at work. No harm, no foul. I got to know the front desk staff quite well during these first-world inconveniences. They commented sympathetically on my guest misfortunes. I felt supported even more. I checked out after 8 nights and commented to the staff that I never had so many issues in a hotel then felt sad to be leaving it, I felt so comfortable and at home. I like this place. I expect to be travelling to Sudbury on business again soon and will be reserving a space back at the Fairfield. Nice people. It will feel like...
Read moreFriendly and quick check in. Received excellent customer service with Paul and Isabel on check in. Lorraine was on front desk Sunday and helped out with charging my iphone as I had left charger at home. Sebastian, on Saturday night duty was again very helpful when I had a request. The rooms were very clean, the bed was comfortable, a small suggestion, that the pillows need to be upgraded. We were a group of 8 with 4 rooms, and the others felt the same about the pillows. The facilities were very clean, and hallways too. All toiletries, towels and room items were available. The pool and hot-tub were very clean and enjoyed.
Most impressive was the breakfast area, the quality of the food was very good, The cleanliness of the counters and serving area was superb, considering many people passing through, but the staff was on top of keeping things clean, and food servery filled. Merline deserves credit for a fine job. Shannon, one of the servers deserves praise for a job well done. She was keeping things polished and clean. I had tipped her, though it was not required. I would like to see the servers tipped for great service and making our experience all the more pleasurable.
Common area bathrooms were sanitary and very clean. House keeping took excellent care of the rooms. This makes for a very good impression. The team at Fairfield deserves much credit for great customer service.
For the past 3 years this is where our family visit stays at Fairfield Inn. We will continue the tradition as our stay at Fairfield is superb. By the way, you never know who you may run into as well, we were treated to seeing Jay Dupuis from Memphis, 2014 Winner Elvis tribute artist, what a surprise!
Thanks to all for a great...
