We stayed for 4 nights at the Thompson and while the locating isn’t ideal, it has amenities close by and convenient. The hotel itself is amazing for group settings. There is an outdoor space with a bbq, a long table where we entertained our team, which had windows looking into the indoor pool and hot tub ( great to get out of that heat) along with through the pool was this huge games room where you can play video games, pool, fuse ball, air hockey etc. they even had a couch and table to watch tv in there. The rooms are basic but the ac was very welcomed. We had a separate room. I wish they would have had more options for kitchenettes, but we brought a toaster and used the microwave and filled our cooler and the fridge to help save on food costs while travelling as a family for a sports tournament. I also wish it would have had a couch in the main living area (we had a bed, and two chairs. ) the staff were outstanding. Really great service, very helpful and 24 hours including a little snack nook to buy chips, drinks ( pop or wine) Mr noodles and some candies and even a few souvenirs. Be prepared to pay for the amenities like the pool tables, video games and $10 per use of the bbq. ( we bbqd everything at once and simply kept in fridge and reheated) Would I stay there again, YES

Older style hotel that's been recently redone. Pet friendly, family friendly, non smoking. Contential breakfast was good. Covid procedures in place to protect everyone. Games room was amazing and arcade. They have an elevator and business room with computers. Nice clean lobby. Complimentary coffee or water waiting. Wheelchair accessible. Close to amenities. Art gallery close by, spray park close by, brew house and restaurant nearby. Great location overall. We would visit again or recommend. Fair price. 4 stars instead of 5 because they did not have the drains of the pool cleaned- all had hair or paper in them and the hot tub had actual debris floating in it- paper of some sort🤢 The front desk also tried to charge us an extra $40 for our dog when we checked out, which they argued we agreed to in the paper we signed. We asked for them to show us the document and they were not able to so they waived it. Be cautious and inquire about this extra charge for pets when you stay. We called 2 times before we arrived about pet policy and nothing was mentioned. They never mentioned anything when we arrived either. Despite these two fixable occurances I would still recommend the hotel.

We had a lovely stay at the Thompson Hotel in Kamloops! Our room was fantastic—well-maintained, clean, and incredibly comfortable, with some nice modern updates that made a difference. We especially appreciated the oversized mini-fridge, which was a huge convenience. While the bathroom was a little on the small side, it was perfectly clean and served its purpose effectively. Every single staff member we interacted with at the front desk was super friendly and approachable, which really enhanced our experience. The hotel's location is also a huge plus; it's an easy walk around town to find something to eat, making exploring very convenient. If we're ever travelling through the Kamloops area again, we would absolutely stay here again!

I have stayed at the Thompson Hotel MANY times over the years and would always give it a thumbs up until the last 2 times I've stayed there. I had awful experiences with the staff, when I noticed the bathtub in the room I was in was not draining as my niece was having a shower I went downstairs to the front desk and was offered a bottle of draino to fix it myself. We brushed it off for that trip and decided to try another stay last week. The staff was very friendly and welcoming but when we got checked into our room and turned the AC on we got coverd in a black dust? Ash? Of done sort. It completely coverd the bed so we went down to the front desk. Without looking at what it was, he offered to change us rooms (which we did). Now this room... beds were rock hard.. there was a piece of lettuce in the AC.. small tiny bugs crawling all on the bathroom floor.. the ice bucket was dirty... We were so frustrated by this point that we just wanted to go rest in the pool/hottub area. The pool was SO cold that none of us could even enjoy it. When we told the front desk staff he did check and said that it did feel a little cold and would turn the temperature up (which I don't think he ever did). The $10 breakfast is an absolute joke! All the other times I've been to this hotel it has been free with our stay... just save yourself the money and walk behind the hotel to the tims! The staff in the kitchen was not very friendly especially when we had to keep asking for items (cream cheese, peanut butter, jam) nothing was left out. The pancakes were the frozen pancakes that you have to put in the toaster yourself. The bananas were brown the first morning than so green the second that we couldnt even peel them.... my English muffin and 2 sausages were not worth the money! I will NOT be staying here again and will NOT recommend this...

The Thompson Hotel: a “3-star hotel” with 5-star service! We absolutely loved our staycation here. The perfect little “get-away” only 8 minutes from home. They had safe protocols, and it wasn’t too busy with other guests. The room was freshly updated and cozy. Complimentary coffee machine in the room (just make sure yours is supplied with filters), a mini fridge, 2 queen beds and TV. We booked the Family Movie Night special and with 4 small children, we had SO much fun! We loved the arcade (if you’re an avid arcade player, best to bring your own roll of loonies. They can make change, but could run out). The private pool time was extra nice, and they supplied life jackets for our kids. The pool area itself is simple with a hot tub. For dinner, the hotel is in a central location. You can pick any wonderful local restaurant and walk to pick up your food. We ended the night with a special treat: a private movie screening in a theatre-styled atmosphere. They have many new and older movies you could choose from, or bring your own DVD! They really went the extra mile to make us feel special! On top of supplying an A+ treat basket, they knew our kids were nearing their bed time by the time we started the movie, and they brought a cot down for them. So, if our younger ones fell asleep, our eldest could still enjoy the whole movie. For breakfast, they didn’t have the usual weekend hot breakfast because of the new COVID restrictions, but it was still a great breakfast bar. They brought out pancakes on request (that I just popped into the toaster), and had a varied selection of other yummy treats. I hope this special Family Movie Night stays for the long run, because we’ll...

My child and I stayed three nights last weekend. On the final Sunday night the fire alarm went off after 9pm when my child was asleep. We evacuated, she was very freaked out. The experience was scary for her and after we had been outside waiting for the fire department to check it out we left. I took her to a friend's house who made a bed for us to sleep on the living room floor. When I went back to the hotel after she was finally asleep, I grabbed our stuff and checked out. I asked for a refund for that bad experience for that one night. I was told they would do that. When I saw after 5 days no refund had been issued, I called the hotel and was told because I booked through Expedia they couldn't do anything. They took my money through Expedia and apparently can't do anything? Ridiculous. Figure it out folks, passing the buck is not customer service! -- Warning to everyone considering booking, they just want your money and don't care about your experience, don't book here, especially if you are traveling with kids.

Also, the fire escape stairwell is dripping with water on the steps and was absolutely gross to walk through, so if you do stay, fingers cross the fire alarm doesn't go off or you'll get shoes full of water.

UPDATE: I reached out to Expedia who tried to also get the hotel to refund me but the hotel just straight up refused to Expedia. The hotel lied to me. They must be going out of business soon if they did all these actions to not refund one night....
