I mean can I just say, wow! Walking past it from the outside the place looks a little tacky, standing out among other, less ornamental places. But walking in is SO worth it. The place is beautiful on the inside and yes, has a lush little garden! It's unfortunate that we had to visit it during a lockdown, would have been nice to see people in there, it's really the kind of place you want to see full and lively. The staff was beyond considerate, portions quite large but not overwheling, pricing was quite normal and everything tasted very fresh.
My one criticizm is that the chow mein seemed a little bland. Does make me wonder how they handle such a diverse and large menu, offering both chinese and japanese quisines... but again, everything was fresh, so I am sure it is handled in a commendable and dignified manner. Also the garden part is just in the front, kind of attracting outsiders, but inside there really isn't anything past that, I think further indoors would benefit from some plants too. And hey, please get some pots for the plants visible from the seating areas, I think I saw one growing in a literal plastic bottle and it just really messes up the atmosphere.
But thats just nitpicking :) . If you are looking for a cool place to visit, especially out of lockdown, this is just...
Read moreDuring a recent visit to Kamloops, I had the pleasure of dining at Oriental Garden restaurant, and it was an experience worth sharing. The menu offered a variety of enticing options, and we decided to try the chicken fried rice, spicy chicken noodles, dynamite sushi, and udon with karaage chicken.
From the first bite, it was clear that the food was prepared with great attention to detail. The chicken fried rice was perfectly seasoned. The spicy chicken noodles packed a flavorful punch. The dynamite sushi was a delightful explosion of flavors, fresh and well-prepared. The udon with karaage chicken stood out with its rich broth and crispy, tender chicken pieces.
The staff at Oriental Garden were exceptionally polite and attentive, adding to the overall positive dining experience.
In summary, Oriental Garden in Kamloops exceeded our expectations. The delicious food and outstanding service make it a must-visit for anyone in the area. I highly recommend trying their diverse menu for an unforgettable...
Read moreTried once over 15 years ago and decided to try again. Saturday night and it was only half full (should have probably taken the hint). We were seated quickly and the service was good, but the positive points stop there. We ordered a combination of Japanese and Chinese dishes. Gyoza - was deep fried rather than pan fried which made it quite greasy. Wor Wonton Soup - was okay although the broth was cloudy and not clear as in most places. Teriyaki chicken - the chicken was deep fried?? and was topped with a very thin, tasteless teriyaki style sauce. And for this we paid almost $60. My suggestion would be for them to pick just one type of cuisine and perfect that - the may be trying to...
