Between the tennis, large groups of people, screaming kids, boomboxes and the incredibly obnoxiously loud Music in the Park, this is not a quiet place to go and relax.

For the most part it's an attractive looking park, although the main area is quite the eyesore (no trees, dirt instead of grass due to being trampled upon), but it's too loud and too crowded.

Even worse is the people who keep bringing their dogs here, despite the fact that (other than it being against the law) there's a park that allows dogs just a short walk away. The city (and bylaw) doesn't seem to care about the dogs, but they're obsessed with chasing out the natural wildlife (such as geese and pigeons) out of the park instead.

The events (much like anywhere in the city) are always loud and always blaring bass. most people don't seem to care, even though the sound travels to houses over 2km away. If you thought it was loud standing outside of your house, try being in the vicinity!

Another honourable mention are the numerous camps, most near the entrance and the bridge.

It was a nice park at one point. Not anymore. There's no peace from people, their dogs or their noise, so better to go elsewhere if you're looking for peace and quiet. Or just wait until winter when people aren't as...

We used to lived here in Kamloops, when husband works as a scientist for forestry Dept. For 2 yrs.

It Was 1983..son was 5.. Now he's 41....some 35 yrs ago

This Park by Thompson river , Used to be a forest, + only a bit of a sand closed to the river... Ok looks like a primitive natural beach..lots of trees/scrubs on the beach.wild plants 1982

Now it looks stunningly beautiful, tidyly artificial, yet very gorgeous. About 50 acres - 60 acres in total size..park-beach moutains, river setting

The city has grown ? 10 times..since 35 yrs ago. Now Putting lots of money to renovating this park..to give it a new look...

As city of Kamloops is otherwise surrounded by Sandy mountains looks like a desert.

This Riverside Park, Sand beach was now beautiful...fine sand..6 acres in size

( Schrub from before all removed, only white sand).....plus...

Children play area. Vast pretty Green grass Beautiful Picnic tables.. Washroom facility... River view, moutains

One sees Thompson river... It Was early September..we saw the Salmon run had started. Salmon wss seen swimming stuggling upstream to spawn..in their birth place.

Absolutely a beautiful site, A place to walk dogs, leisure walks for north, south Kamloops residents..tourist, & passers- by like us....

my experience as a first timer. it was clean. the beach was not busy at all maybe the water is to cold still. There is an ice cream shop near by. the view on the dock is nice. i went to take photos with my kids while a whole bus of people were waiting. i wasnt sure if i wasnt supposed to be there but they were doing a big family photo so i kinda got kicked out by a random photographer saying i was about to be rushed by people.. otherwise its a nice place to walk and the water park was a blast for my son. the other negative thing is how its paid parking and there is very limited spaces available. i had to do a few laps then someone left i took the spot. the paid parking thing wouldn't take my credit card saying it had not enough money ($3) when it definitely did. i tried a few times. so in the end i paid coins. 25 cents...

Spent Canada Day here with family! It was probably the best Canada Day event I've ever experienced. The art market was HUGE, with something for everyone, and everything was priced very reasonably. The foodtruck selection was also very diverse, with several notable and delicious fusion options. As for entertainment, they had more than one stage with all kinds of culturally diverse groups and shows. Right in the middle of it all, there was a water park that seemed to be the main attraction for the kids - And an awesome sandy beach that we really enjoyed. If you're coming out to this park for Canada Day, my key piece of advice would be to get there early as parking is tough to find. All in all, it was absolutely worth the drive and you definitely check it out with your family!

I highly recommend Riverside Park as a fantastic place to visit. The incredible river view is absolutely breathtaking, providing a serene and picturesque atmosphere. The park also offers live music, which adds a vibrant and lively ambience to the surroundings. Moreover, the water games are a source of endless entertainment, with people of all ages joyfully splashing around and having a great time. Riverside Park truly captures the essence of fun and relaxation, making it the perfect destination for anyone seeking a memorable outdoor experience.
