I found this hotel through Google maps and had a mixed experience. I called to book late at night and was told by the front desk that they were busy and that I would get a call back to finalize the booking within 20 minutes. I called them back 40 minutes later as they had not reached out and booked my stay in what was supposed to be an executive suite. The booking agent was helpful and courteous but misquoted the price - I was charged $100 more than I was quoted for the room. Also, the hotel didn't send me a booking confirmation, they only provided a confirmation number so I was not comfortable discussing the overage as I had no confirmation in writing but a friend who was with me at the time or booking confirmed my suspicion of being significantly overcharges. Upon arrival, I was offered a choice between complimentary breakfast at their restaurant or complimentary parking as an executive guest. I chose complimentary parking as the restaurant was only open until 11 a.m. for breakfast and I planned on sleeping in. The room was clean however the fridge (agent advised there was a fridge, did not advise that it was ONLY suitable for drinks...) smelled like it had been used to store fish and it made the whole room stink. After speaking to the front desk a second time, we were moved to a new room at 4:30 a.m. For what it's worth, both rooms were very quiet with no noise leaking in from the adjacent rooms. The second room presented well at first however upon further inspection in daylight, there was some blood on the white bedsheet and the blinds had tears all over them that let the light in through the morning hours. The common areas of the hotel were clean and the lobby had lots of light. The hotel was central so finding transportation was not an issue. I don't think I would use this hotel again. It looked great on paper and sounded great on the phone however it did not live up to expectations. Major chains provide much better value in my personal experience. It is possible that I just had an unlucky experience but for the price paid, I was not very impressed.
EDIT: Novotel actually responded to my review and offered assistance in correcting the issue regarding the overage where I was charged about $100 more than I was quoted. Given that the staff and front desk really did everything they could to address my issues, I am increasing my rating by 1 star from 3 star to 4 star as the price as quoted does represent 4 star value. I cannot stress enough the quality of their people - they were phenomenal and I sincerely appreciate that they would take the time to respond to my concerns directly. I do wish the evening staff were as helpful but in the end, it was made right. I will actually stay at this hotel again in recognition of their efforts. I give credit where...
Read moreI got into my room late at night and found a towel in the washroom with dried blood on it. The countertop also had strands of short black hair on it. I called and reported it and was offered another room. I wasn't able to change rooms because I was staying on the same floor as my colleagues and felt safer being close to them. I had also already unpacked my suitcase. I asked for lysol wipes so I can clean the place myself. The young man who brought over the wipes was very apologetic and assured me he'd let the manager know. After settling in bed, the heater (which is extremely loud and archaic) was stuck on 18.5 degrees because the button to increase the temperature was jammed. After struggling with the thermostat, I was able to find a paperclip and managed to pry it out.
In the morning I went to the front desk and reported the incident again. I can overlook the heater, but the fact that the washroom and the soiled towel were clearly not cleaned well, ESPECIALLY DURING A PANDEMIC, is completely unacceptable. I was told that the manager will be in touch with me and they asked for my phone number which I provided to them.
By the time I checked out the next day, no one had reached out to me. Upon checkout, I told lady at the front desk that no one reached out to me. She apologized and promised that she'll make sure that someone does. After a few hours, someone called and left a message asking what they can do to help (that response was too little, too late). I called back a few days later and left a message for the hotel manager, and I never heard back from him.
It wasn't until I reached out to their global customer care line that the matter was escalated and the hotel manager called me. After describing the situation to him, he said the House Cleaning manager will look into the incident and get back to me. It's been a couple of months now and no one has reached out to me.
It's evident they don't care about their guests or their negative experiences. I'm certainly never staying here again and encourage others to consider other hotels in the area, as this is a 2-3 star hotel at best. I really didn't want to have to write this review but when I saw the lack of response and concern from their end, it they left me with no choice but to...
Read moreDuring my stay here from July 29- August 4th, my hotel room was absolutely immaculate upon arrival. It was very quiet and I had wonderful sleep every single night. Although I am a very private person, my husband insisted that I allow room service to come in and clean my room while we were out. Every single time I came back, my room was spotless and all of my belongings were accounted for. The cleaning services was so good. They would even fix my toiletries in the restroom and the coffee area. As for all of my makeup and jewelry on the desk, untouched. Fresh bedsheets and towels everyday, and I had a nice view from my window too. There was also a tiny fridge that I used to put water bottles or little snacks my husband picked up for me from the lobby downstairs. They only thing I could complain about was that you are charged every single time to come in and out of the parking garage which was unfortunate because my husband was coming and going a lot to get coffee, food, etc. and the fact that the side door that went to the upper parking lot was under some sort of construction and the doors were left open throughout the night and that staircase was absolutely horrible.. my husband and I would get nicely dressed for an evening out and he had to hold on to me in fear that my heels would get caught on the steps to the garage. However, once on the upper parking garage my gosh... that sunrise and sunset was absolutely beautiful every single day! As for one more con, the parking garage is a very, VERY tight fit when driving up and down. I was very concerned that my husband was getting a little too close to the walls but other than that, beautiful hotel nonetheless and my experience was absolutely wonderful! If my husband didn’t offer me to stay at his home this vacation around, I would have definitely rebooked my stay again at Novotel ♥️ ps. My apologies for not getting more photos of inside the room. The two I took (the one with the roses my husband got for me and my view outside of the window are both snapshots I obtained from my vlog, the other few are the ones I took on the upper level...
