I’ve never left a negative review for any restaurant before, but this one absolutely deserves it.
A $125 lesson learned. I ordered a Premium Series - Kiwami 20 pcs ($59.97) and an Aubri Tray Series 38 pcs ($64.97), expecting quality sushi. Instead, I got a frustrating experience and a blatant lack of honesty.
Also, I strongly recommend checking your order before eating—oh wait, never mind. It won’t help. Even if you point out an issue, they won’t care.
This place swaps ingredients without telling customers, charges the same price, and expects you to just accept it.
I placed my order at noon for dinner pickup, giving them plenty of time to prepare. When I arrived, they just said, “Still preparing,” and left me waiting for at least 20 minutes with no updates. No one told me when my food was ready—I had to check myself.
I specifically ordered the highest-tier Premium Series because I wanted the best fish, and this option didn’t include salmon. If I wanted salmon, I could’ve ordered a cheaper set. But when I got home and opened the box, the four pieces of high-quality fish had been swapped for four pieces of salmon.
I called immediately, thinking it might just be a mistake, but the staff gave a cold response: “Fish is seasonal. What’s on the menu isn’t always available.”
But here’s the issue:
If an ingredient is unavailable, they can inform customers and ask if substitution is acceptable. They had at least 20 minutes while I was waiting but said nothing.
They replaced premium fish with a cheaper one but still charged full price. That’s just dishonest.
The menu clearly lists the fish types and quantities with photos, but nowhere does it say substitutions will be made without notice. That’s misleading.
A good restaurant values customer feedback, which is why I called them instead of leaving a bad review right away. I even explained my concerns patiently, trying to let them understand how customers would feel in this situation. But their attitude was disappointing—they only keep emphasizing “Fish is seasonal” and just acted like customers should just accept whatever they decided to serve.
Your prices aren’t cheap. What you charge should be reflected in both quality and service.
If I could give 0...

Noticed that a new sushi place has just opened in the neighborhood. Of course with the limited options for decent sushi in the neighborhood, I knew I had to give this place a try.
As we had small planned gathering of 7 nearby, we ordered takeout rather than dining in. I ordered an aburi box, an unagi don, and a sashimi, sushi, roll set. We definitely got more food than I had expected. If you have ever been to North York and tried Sushi Bong, you'll get an idea of the portion size. The 40 pc aburi roll tray was definitely sufficient to feed all of us alone. I personally prefer aburi oshizushi to rolls, but this was good enough and the kids enjoyed being able to eat cooked sushi. The 80 pcs sashimi sushi roll tray was much more substantial. I would've really liked to have a bit more selection in the types of sashimi and sushi, but you are definitely not getting shortchanged for the selection. Fish is fresh, and slices are not small. Sushi is a good balance of rice and fillings, it is also rolled tightly, so things don't fall apart. Rice is authentic correct temperature and properly cooked.
The sitting area is very limited and it shares a space with a Chinese skewers restaurant, so the smell does come into the space. There are quite a few of these foodhalls popping up to allow customers many food options at one location. The design of the store is very simple and you can see the sushi being prepared in front of you. Plating and presentation of the food is done well, so if you're looking for pictures for the gram, this doesn't disappoint. If you go all around the GTA/downtown for sushi, the closest comparison to this would be IKON up in Vaughan/Markham. Great for parties with people that enjoy sushi. Obviously not omakase as there isn't that option, so if you're looking for that experience at the price/value you're getting this food, you need to stop deluding yourself.
The staff were friendly and courteous and the place is clean.
I am certainly glad that there are more premium options for sushi in Mississauga and will definitely...
Read moreI finally had the chance to check out Shiroshi Japanese Sushi in Mississauga, and it’s a fantastic spot for anyone craving authentic and fresh Japanese food. For those looking for it, the restaurant is located inside a compact and modern food hall that it shares with two other eateries. This setup gives it a really cool, casual vibe—perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Let’s get to the best part: the sashimi. It was absolutely fantastic! The cuts were generous, beautifully presented, and you could truly taste the freshness. Each piece just melted in my mouth. It’s clear that Shiroshi prioritizes quality, making it a top choice for sushi lovers in the area. I also tried the miso soup, which was a warm and comforting side—a classic, reliable choice to go with your meal.
Given its location in a food hall, I’d imagine this place absolutely excels at takeout. The efficiency and quality would be perfect for grabbing a delicious lunch to bring back to the office or for a cozy sushi night at home. I’ll definitely be doing that next time!
A quick heads-up for drivers: the main parking lot is mostly paid, and street parking in the immediate area can be a little tough to find, especially during peak hours. I’d recommend factoring in a few extra minutes to secure a spot.
Overall, my dining experience at Shiroshi was really positive. If you're searching for "fresh sashimi Mississauga," "best sushi takeout," or "Japanese food hall near me," you should definitely put Shiroshi Japanese Sushi on your list. It’s a welcoming spot that delivers on taste and quality. I’m already looking forward to...
