“I travel extensively around the world, staying at various hotels, so I know what to expect from hospitality. I recently stayed at this hotel in Montreal from October 25-27 for a book launch event, choosing it based on proximity. In hindsight, I should have stayed with my regular hotel chain and simply used Uber to get me to the book launch event.
Upon check-in, we were met with a level of indifference that was truly disappointing. The young woman at the front desk neither greeted us nor made eye contact once. This lack of basic courtesy and connection continued the next day with a different staff member—no “good morning,” no assistance, no warmth. In my 42 years of travel, I’ve never experienced such a dismissive attitude.
The only person who was kind and showed a smile was a young woman from housekeeping, whom I had to approach for extra towels. It’s frustrating to think that the best customer service experience I had came from housekeeping rather than front desk staff.
While I could overlook issues like the noticeable smoke smell on the first floor and that it is an older hotel, the complete lack of customer service from the front desk is unacceptable. It’s disappointing to pay for a stay where you feel unwelcome. Hospitality should mean more than just providing a room; it’s about making guests feel valued. This hotel missed the...
Read moreStayed 2 nights in the junior suite with spa bath. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel was for the price I paid. The big bathtub for 2 people was such a luxury to have in the room. Here are some of the things I really liked about the hotel: - staff is very welcoming and friendly - Room was very clean - air-conditioning was a huge bonus (you can control the temperature) - Free breakfast - Free parking - There are non-smoking rooms. If you're a smoker you'll be pleased that they have smoking rooms as well. - Very affordable for what you get. Couldn't find many hotels in Montreal that have spa-like rooms for anything near what I paid for. - Despite all the romantic rooms, they have family friendly rooms as well! Families with kids can definitely stay here for a few nights if needed. Before coming I saw reviews that complained about the noise but I had absolutely no issues with that. It was quiet and peaceful, a perfect getaway. Check in time is 3pm and check out time is 12pm. I had a $200 deposit when checking in that they give back once you leave. Free breakfast starts at 6am and finishes at 10am. Definitely going to be coming back throughout the year, had a great visit and would definitely recommend Le Chabrol to...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The air conditioner in our room wasn’t working, and when we brought it to the attention of the receptionist, his response was shockingly unhelpful. He simply said, “I can’t help you today as the maintenance guy is gone and he won’t come just to fix one room,” and made no effort to offer a solution or even show concern. No room change, no maintenance call, nothing. For the price we paid, this level of service is completely unacceptable. I won’t be staying here again, and I suggest you think twice before booking.
Awful guy named Abdul was at the reception and he was so useless. He couldn’t even call his manager to seek assistance and gave us all kind of reasoning and excuses.
To make matters worse, the staff’s attitude in general was cold and unprofessional. We felt like we were a burden just for asking for help with something that should have been working in the first place. A hotel is supposed to provide comfort and service — this place failed on both fronts.
We left this place immediately once we checked in and to wait for the refund of security deposit, the reception guy Abdul made us wait 20 mins and other customers were waiting at the counter just like...
