CA LEM Crèmerie Creamery (NDG) ice cream — Restaurant in Montreal

We have been coming here every summer since they first opened. This summer we couldn’t wait to come back… we came the week after victoria day. But we ended up waiting almost 30 minutes to get our ice cream because there was a huge line almost to the door and there was only one employee behind the counter working as fast as she could and to her credit she was so gracious and calm despite being clearly overwhelmed. Honestly a star employee.

At least 3 other employees were in the back either on their phone or eating ice cream and didn’t seem to care at all to help out.

We got there excited for ice cream and my 2 year old daughter had a meltdown after waiting 20 minutes… ice cream is supposed to be a fun family activity but it felt like the management just didn’t care to make it a great experience anymore.

They also didn’t seem to have properly set up the place for summer… it was a very disappointing visit where it feels like the management has just taken for granted that the ice cream is popular. While it is still great, the now expensive price and insanely long wait make it...

Ca Lem NDG. I would love to give a review for the actual product but alas,I cannot. Heard so much wonderful stuff about this place I was excited to try,so this was out first time. Will never try again.HUGE lineup. FULL of Concordia students and rude young adults bogging up the store. Only ONE young girl ( no one else working) behind the counter. Today was a particular treat for the other people in line as one concordia student, after receiving her order , proceeded to drop the 2 stacked scoops of ice cream onto the floor while holding the cone, and stood staring and giggling at the mess, so this delayed service even more since the confused counter girl had to replace her order. Then a gaggle of rude teenagers behind us suddenly cut in line in front of us saying they were there for 10 minutes, even though we waited in line 15 minutes, so I just grabbed our stroller and wheeled the heck outta there ,past a huge line up formed outside . Last time I visited, I was disappointed. The ice cream itself was excellent—no complaints there. However, the service experience left a lot to be desired.

There was only one employee working behind the counter, and despite being alone with a line stretching out the door, she was quick, efficient, and doing her best to keep things moving. What surprised me was that when the owner arrived, instead of stepping in to help or speed things up, she showed no sense of urgency. In fact, she took her time and began openly criticizing the employee over something as trivial as a bit of leftover ice cream around the cup—right in front of customers—while the line continued to grow.

If this is how the business is run, I can’t support it. I sincerely hope management reconsiders how the staff is scheduled and treated, especially during busy hours. At the very least, there should be two people behind the counter—one to serve and one to...
