Nice staff! We will most likely stay here again because of the great on-site staff.
Young woman with glasses at front counter when we checked in on Wednesday was really knowledgeable about Jasper and tours. She drove in to Jasper just like us that day.
Racheal at Walter’s breakfast was really nice two days in a row. She checked on us often. We purposefully got food off the free breakfast menu so that we could tip her! Her tip was $10 on a $4 bill so we hope she got it.
Servers at Hearthstone where really great! Kept our drinks full!
Our king sized bed was really comfy and soft.
Hotel is starting to get a little worn out. Rugs in some areas are worn and stained like in Walter’s.
Overall the hotel was very clean and tidy.
Our washroom counter was too close to the toilet. We get king rooms because I’m a bigger guy. It’s hard to use the toilet when the paper roll holder is poking me in the side after I take the roll out. It makes me a bit sad the humiliated to talk about this but I wanted to give useful feedback.
Food was good and delicious but it seemed off theme and too fancy. For an Indigenous owned hotel I would expect more traditional foods. This may be a missed opportunity to showcase Indigenous culture to visitors from around the world.
No breakfast buffet! We have been here multiple times before and the breakfast buffet was always a highlight.
No gift shop! Again, another missed opportunity to sell traditional Indigenous arts and crafts.
Phone booking was strange! The person on the phone told us that the kitchen was being renovated so we would have to go to another hotel to eat. But that was not so.
No in room pay per view movies! When did 3-4 star hotels stop offering Hollywood blockbuster rentals in room?
Wi-Fi was not that great on the third floor, Hearthstone, and Walter’s. We couldn’t read the menus online as they advertised at the tables. After discovering we could not rent a movie in room, we were trying to stream on our phone but that didn’t work either.
It feels like the management company is cutting corners and missing opportunities.
For the price and these few issues it was only a little...

We recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing, despite some notable positives.
The good: • The staff is incredibly kind and helpful. They truly do their best and were always polite and responsive. • There is an EV charger on site, which was a great surprise — but oddly, it’s not mentioned on the website. That really should be highlighted! • The hotel has a fun, unique design and the food was actually quite tasty, though not exceptional. • Dinner and breakfast are available, but be prepared to wait — the food takes a very long time to arrive. The breakfast buffet was poor, and everything was for an extra charge.
The not-so-good: • The hotel is partially renovated, but we were given an old room — and it was very old and run-down. • The shower was impossible to regulate: it kept switching from freezing to scalding hot on its own. Very unpleasant and frankly dangerous. • The bathroom fan didn’t work during the day, which is not ideal. • We stayed in a room for five people, paid extra for the fifth, but were given only two mugs and three towels. Everything had to be requested separately — and although the staff always brought what we asked for, it felt exhausting to have to chase down basics. • At the pool, the showers were also broken or barely working — again, hot/cold shocks and malfunctioning knobs. • The laundry situation was unacceptable. The website says “laundry service” but what they actually have is two coin-operated machines (one of which was broken) and two dryers for the entire hotel. We tried three times and still couldn’t do our laundry. Machines take coins only — no tap, no credit card option, which feels very outdated.
In general, the hotel seems charming at first glance, but it’s very tired and poorly maintained. For the price, we expected more comfort and convenience. With some serious updates, this place could be great — but in its current state, we...
Read moreWhen we booked this hotel online, it looked great! However, we were pretty underwhelmed with our stay. When we arrived in our room and took a look around there were several hairs on the shower wall - very unsettling. Staff sent someone up to clean it, but seemed to brush it off pretty quickly when I called the front desk. We also found several hairs on the sheets of the bed. Luckily, we had a second to sleep in since we had a double room (all that was left when booking). The bathroom needs some SERIOUS updating. Stained grout in the shower (like, black grout that should be white), staining around the drains, dingy shower knobs, chips in the tub. I’m not sure why they didn’t focus on renovating this hotel before building a completely new one. Also, the “new side” could not be more aesthetically different than the “old side” - seems like they should have just kept them separate all together. The overall layout of the building is pretty odd. Parking is around the side/back yet there is no elevator in the rear entrance - you have to walk up several stairs and through the entire building to get to the front elevators from the back. Our room was down several dark, dated hallways (very far from elevators). We were directly next to a common stairway which was extremely loud anytime it was used. The stairway was very dingy and not at all what you would expect from a “4 star hotel”. We also had a conjoined room and could hear everything from the room next door through the conjoining door which made it feel like we had zero privacy. Lastly, I find it a bit ridiculous that a hotel priced at nearly $300/night does not offer a continental breakfast. We didn’t bother complaining as we were only here for 2 nights and tried to spend as little time in the room as possible. However, overall, we would not stay here again and would not recommend...
