It has a roof... that's about it. We are staying in this hotel for 2 nights on our round-trip through Canada. I do not necessarily have high expectations of rooms, as long as they are clean and everything works, it's fine. Well, believe me when I tell you, this hotel does not even live up to my low expectations. When walking into the hotel, you are immediately greeted by the (outdated) carpet on the floors and the dark atmosphere. I'm not one to be shocked easily and don't judge a book by its cover, but walking into the room, my mood sank. If you think the carpet is dirty and outdated outside the room, don't bother coming in the room. It is dirty, outdated and stretched from the many years of (ab)use. The room is large, yes, but empty. Small furniture for such a big room. We booked a room with 2 Queen beds, but got one with only 1 bed. We thought we had the luxury of a steam shower, together with a normal (rain) shower, but the steam shower was broken. At first we thought we just didn't know how to operate it, but no. I asked downstairs at the reception, who said they would send maintenance up, only to call us 5 minutes later, saying that it was a known problem that the shower was not working. Nice. Thanks for letting us know when we were checking in. But they couldn't do anything for us. Also, the coffee machine wasn't working. Oh, no. My bad. The machine itself was working fine, it's just that the wall outlet was quite literally falling out of the wall!!!!! We called the reception to complain, and wanted another room. They said that they would get back to us, which they never did. So we went down to ask what is up, only to be "helped" my the most rude staff I have ever met, who apparently are very shocked by the fact that if you book a room, you expect everything to work, be clean and wall outlets staying inside the walls.... They even said, this was one of their best rooms. Not to be rude, but if this is one of their best rooms, I pity other guests staying here. In the end, we did not get another room, nothing was fixed, they plugged another outlet in the outlet coming out of the wall (is that called fixing it?) and we were only gifted a free breakfast coupon for the restaurant next door. I feel like this is hardly any compensation. If you are looking to book this hotel, please, please, please, for the love of God, look elsewhere. The rooms are truly dirty, stuff is breaking down, falling apart and coming out of the walls. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. The only reason I gifted this hotel 1 star, is because of the great surroundings. Jasper itself is beautiful and the Canadian Rockies are a sight to behold. Go stay at the hotel next door.

This would be a completely different review if I was paying $150/night rather than $400/night. When you pay $400/night for a room, you expect a lot more. If I had of paid $150/night, then this would be a 5 star review. The room was very large and was reasonably clean. Lots of coffee supplies. It had 2 king beds. There was no desk space to do any work at so that was a bit inconvenient, being in the area for work. I was really surprised that the room did not have AC. It was +26 yesterday and when I came back to my room, it was a sauna. I was going to open my windows but the screens were all bent and separated from the window frame so who know what would have came in the room for bugs, and with the windows at ground level, maybe even rodents coming in. They do provide a single fan which helped for me but if it was a larger group in here, not sure that this would be sufficient. Once you find it, there is a very small fridge in the cabinet under the tv. I put all of my drinks in there and the next morning, when I went to grab them, they were all frozen solid and a couple of the bottles had burst. I tried plugging my laptop into the provided power bar on the side of the table. Ran for a few mins and then shut off. When I followed the power bar back to the receptacle, I found a 6 plug adapter plugged into the single receptacle and every one of the 6 plugs were full. So guessing there wasn’t enough power to power the power bar to allow my laptop to charge. And besides that, I can’t imagine the fire hazard due to that plug being overloaded with electronic equipment, fridge and power bar. The cable tv was constantly “loosing signal” and would hardly stay on. Watch out for the bathroom faucet. Lots of pressure there so when you turn on the faucet to wash your hands, you can easily get water splashing out at you. Too bad they couldn’t put some of that pressure over to the shower because it just trickles out. The in wall plumbing sounds too are a bit much. When the room beside you or above you turns on their water, you hear it pretty loudly. The soaps and lotions that are in the bathroom are amazing. The location is a bit out of the way so if you expect to walk down town or to any restaurants, plan at least a 20-30min walk. I’m not trying to turn anyone away here, I just want to ensure that you know what you are paying $400/night for. If I was paying $150/night, I could live with a lot of these things but just because of the demand, they can get the $400/night anyways…standards can be set lower.

Welcome back to 1980, from the swirly patterned brown and gold curtains with matching arm chairs to patterned carpets. Even the front steps into the hotel are carpet. Almost unexpectedly consideting its 1980 theme the hotel wasn't tired or run down - a travellodge standard if your british. If you don't like lifts particularly however, take the stairs, it makes some noises that would make a nervous passenger celebrate they made it to the next floor. Services; reception polite. Pool area not working, use a neighbouring hotels. Cafe closed and any room cleaning is only if requested. Rooms; stuffy and dark. Like bring a torch dark. There is no ceiling light, only low wattage lamps if you want to look in your suitcase after dark youll be greatfuk your phone has a torch. Forget about reading a book even under the lamp. The bounciest beds ever, don't jump into bed unless you want your partner to make a plank positioned exit off the side or in the least obtain whiplash. The toilet is better suited to a 6year old than a 6foot human The walls are also paper thin. So if a neighboring room decides they are up at 5am so are you! Or you can just lye in bed listening to their word for word conversation. If you've got kids, just imagine what else you can get a perfect audio of. But, all that said. Jasper is beautiful. So if its in your budget and you want to visit jasper go for it. You'll live to tell the tale, and it's only a ten minute walk into the center (the length of jasper being a 20 minute walk)

(Cliche - would give it a 0 star or negative score if possible!!). Long review but please take time to read to see the true nature of a heartless and profoundly profiteering management style …In Jasper of all places with the hardships they have suffered. We would not recommend anyone staying here, please take your custom elsewhere!!!!

Broke down in the middle of the night in a snow storm -20°c on New Year’s Eve between Edson and Hinton (stranded 2 adults and a puppy). Could not make it to Jasper for the first night of a 4 night reservation. Phoned (from roadside whilst waiting for tow truck) and explained the situation at the time and was advised that would not be charged the night (72 hr cancellation policy) due to extenuating circumstances. Hold up in Hinton for the next day unable to fix car or rent car to Jasper as Bank Holiday and services closed. Informed Lobstick Lodge, and were informed again that we would not get charged for the first night. We made it on the 3rd night of our reservation in a rental car (our car is still at mechanic’s in Hinton at the time of writing this post from Edmonton - have to organize to collect car once fixed).

On arrival the true nature of the management and their total inconsideration was revealed. Advised that since they would have been able to sell the room we were “on the hook” for the whole 4 days despite our circumstances and there was no flexibility even for a days grace, told us that “a decision had been made” and we should have cancelled the entire reservation in order for them to consider …so basically cancel the reservation and then be out in the cold and take your chances on New Year’s Day with our pup!

After all this, when we got to the room, the microwave was filthy (see photo) and the fridge too was not cleaned. Front desk got maintenance to come and clean whilst we waited to unpack and settle down with our pup. For this, the manager gave us $50 back. Room also had a smell. On day of checkout, no hot water for shower!

Hi Pavel,

You are incorrect in the information you posted in your reply below and may have received the wrong information. What you stated in your response is correct at the time of check in. However we were told twice both to me and my wife when we called in that at least the first night would be waived. What also does not make any sense is that we were told at check in that if we canceled the full reservation the first night and took our chances (again with our dog) then you could have waived the first night, but we did not and maintained our reservation so you could not waive at least that first night. Management insisted that they would have sold the room, so in that case someone would have paid for those next 3 nights as did we what is the difference as in either case the first night would have been waived. You penalized us for staying with you, whereas you would have waived the first night for us if we didn’t!! Some common sense and courtesy in difficult circumstances was entirely lacking!!

Pavel I vaguely recall but not sure of the persons name, you may have helped us make a reservation to extend our stay in Jasper Summer 2023 at the Marmot when we met you looking for rooms at the Crimson …you gave us the keys to the room next to room 100 at the Marmot where we were staying (under the stairs) so we could move into the next room first thing the next day and extend our stay???!!! Was that you? Do you recall? It has gone from that to this!!

Hi Pavel Thanks for the second response, appreciate that. However apologies and regrets aside, a concrete goodwill gesture given the circumstances and the illogical rationale (as I described previously ..if we cancelled the reservation entirely you would not have charged us for the first night, but since we stayed you can’t waive at least one night). Waiving at least a nights stay would be a concrete gesture for “falling short”and especially as we were told that (waive charge and hold the room) on the phone by the front desk when we called to inform of...
