A very disappointing stay and super bad experience. We were given a room which had flies, mosquitoes, bug. Both alive and dead on the windows, ceiling, side of beds, bathroom. When we complained about it instead of being apologetic about the front desk staff started defending it and said this is due to season and these might be in other rooms too, while we stayed 3 nights in Banff which got same season & similar landscape but there were no bugs inside rooms. They said they will do bug spray and suck them with vacuum while we wait outside, somewhere. We declined that as my wife is allergic to these sprays. They didn't accept the room was not Cleaned properly at the first place. We asked for a change of room and they said no as they were full on capacity that night, which is a pure lie, because they still had vacancy sign on their hotel sign on the street. After much talking front desk agreed to provide us the adjacent room. Which was big free, The front desk lady was super rude and blabbering behind her screen while all this was going on. Just want to say to her that we were not staying there for free, we paid for the room and services so they should provide that!! Next, you have to ask for coffee and sugar and milk etc, every day.... When we told them on phone that we are here fr 3 days so please provide accordingly. And you have to phone them multiple times even for a tiniest thing and still they will take 40+ mins. The Keys!!! We had to get the key cards replaced at least 3 times in 3 days. Pretty annoying that they stopped working every time we come back either they are using subpar key cards or something wrong with there system. We used to keep the keys in the bag packs or car where we usually kept the keys for our other hotel. But the same rude woman was saying it is our fault that they are Getting corrupted coz we are keeping those keys with our cards or other magnetic things. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ Totally disappointed, would not recommend to anyone. Please AVOID STAYING HERE OF YOU CAN!

All of the hotels in Jasper are fifty years outdated as they are in a federal national park and nothing changes without federal permits etc. so you are paying high fees for your grandparents, or older, accommodations. The Tonquin is no different. Parking is at a premium here and o suspect they have one spot for every three rooms air appears. The Tonquin has an indoor pool in the shape of an L and an indoor hot tub that may or may not be open ever. I hen we booked they confirmed it would be open but alas it was not. BUT there are two outdoor hot tubs but they they are outside or different building across the parking lot in a different part of the hotel. There is a dry sauna in both women’s and men’s change rooms The hotel rooms are pretty big and offer another interesting look back in time with original lights, moulding and bathroom fixtures and cabinetry. There is a small fridge and portable air conditioner supplied so that was good. I had a little chuckle when my eyesight (6’2” tall) was over the shower head and that the curtain was longer and was all over the tub. The bed was terrible and the old school sofa bed (bar across the back) was horrible too. No one slept well at all. I noticed there was an outlet for two usb’s and two power cords and tried it but nothing worked so I decided to call the front desk. To my surprise I noticed the phone had a blank sheet over the area where other hotels display where to call for issues luckily “0” means the same everywhere. The sound on the phones are scratchy at best and it takes 5-7 phone calls on average to get ahold of the front desk fyi. When you do forward on a concern to the front desk they all at “we’ll call maintenance” so don’t expect anything to get done. Luckily you are only a short half kilometre to the city centre for meals, shopping or contemplating other adventures or hotels.

Tonquin inn have singlehandedly ruined our trip to the Canadian Rockies by falsely accusing us of having cracked a window, that from my knowledge (Google) most likely has happened due to thermal stress (see pictures). We spent very limited time in our room, as we arrived late in the evening, and only stayed there till morning the next day. Tonquin Inn however called us around 27/30 hours after we left the Inn, accusing us of having caused damages to a window, that they will now have us pay for, by deducting the money from my account without consent. They did not however provide any footage or evidence to support their accusations, and I had to write them myself to even see pictures of the window. Due to the fact that we arrived late in the evening, we did not uncover the windows from the curtains and therefore the damage which was most likely already there upon arrival, went unnoticed. Tonquin Inn have been very rude in this process. They have accused us of being liars, and do not all listen to our explanation. They furthermore still haven't proved that we have caused the damage, however they still intend to charge the money. We were just a small group of four peaceful law students on exchange from Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Singapore, who had a wish to see some of the most beautiful parts of Canada during our exchange. Because of Tonquin Inn, we now regret that wish. What a reputation to leave behind. Tonquin Inn doesn't belong in the service industry.

To start this off I had a work stay here for about 14 nights in a month so I can give you a pretty good idea of how the hotel/staffing is. To start off the booking I did get corporate rate with my personal company, this rate was at $89 a night which is very good for jasper. This rate was meant for ledcor company employees. The booking was done by Nathan ( who no longer works there for multiple reasons ). The hotel did a good job of honouring the original booking confirmation due to the mistake on their part. At no point did I mention I was with them. I think the employee was undertrained on corporate bookings. The hotels are a bit dated and every room WILL have minor issues. ( missing door stop, holes in carpet, crack this or that ) which isn’t a huge deal for me as long as it’s clean. Parking is very limited ( street parking available if full) and stalls are close to lower floor door rooms. So you might hear the odd diesel truck start in the AM for work. Staffing did a good job bringing a microwave as requested. The phone in my hotel didn’t work sadly. Just like any hotel I wouldn’t leave change or anything of value lying around when you leave during the day. Fridays and Saturdays fill up and MIGHT get noisy during nighttime hours. I Recommend a top floor so you do not hear footsteps on lower levels. The restaurant attached to the hotel is good but nothing special. Smaller menu. I went to checkout on my last stay and due to me not staying 7 consecutive nights to get corporate rate I was charged an extra $50 a night for my 3 night stay. Nathan at the front desk was very rude ( last shift before he left ). This message was not in the confirmation email or told to be by any staff about the minimum nights stay to get corporate. It felt like the hotel was trying to get money back from the mos booking originally. When mentioning I did already over 1,000 in business this month and plan to return, all he said to me was that so are lots of others are staying here and spending lots. I had a phone call with the manager later and he said this employee has had multiple issues with in the past. These extra charges had to be brought up to the managers boss to get removed, in the end they offered $25 off the total 139 not including tax for the 3 nights. I declined due to the original confirmation stating $89 and the message about consecutive nights not being relayed until checkout. They finally gave me a full discount in the end. To sum up the hotel it’s just ok. There is probably better and possibly cheaper in jasper. I did not try the pool or hot tubs but from what I seen they are average. Brad the manager was calm and collected. I recommend to book with him if staying. Overall...

Unfortunately, I had a less than stellar experience. I stayed with a total of 4 people for one night July 30- July 31. Since check-in time was after 4 pm, we decided to do a hike and check-in later in the day. After arriving at the front desk a little at 6 pm, I was informed that our room was still not ready because they are short-staffed. They told me it would be 15-20 minutes. I was disappointed since it was already 2 hours past the check-in time, but whatever. We waited until 6:25, and I was told again that our room would not be ready until 6:45. At this point, we were tired and agitated, and we didn't wind up receiving our key cards until close to 7 pm and almost an hour of waiting outside. Not the best first impression.

Once we received our key cards, we try to swipe them in the hotel room, and guess what? None of them work. I walked all the way back to the front office and it turns out they were not programmed for the room. All of us were pretty upset at this point, and all we wanted to do is a shower and relax. There was a small AC unit in the room, a TV, and a few chairs to sit on. Little did we know, the worst was yet to come. My friend decided to take a shower while we watched TV. All of a sudden, the power in our room turns off. We checked and no other hotel room had their power go out. Angry, I walk back to the front desk and inform them we have no power. Unapologetic, the front staff states that "the breaker flips when you use the hairdryer/ AC and TV at the same time". First of all, we weren't informed of this problem when checking in at our room, and second, what type of inn can't support 3 things plugged in at once? It took another 20 minutes to get someone to turn our power back on. Completely unacceptable. Although the room was mostly clean, the sofa bed had a hard mattress and was uncomfortable to sleep on.

When checking out, I informed the front desk of the problems, and if anything could be done such as a discount or some form of compensation. Unfortunately, the front desk staff said no further discounts could be provided since we already had a special rate. Overall, we paid $287 + tax on a one-night stay with 4 people in one king, one sofa bed room. Due to the problems, it was NOT worth the price point, and I do not suggest staying here in the future. Spending a few extra dollars could get you a much better place with better, service, and...

I’ve been travelling with my family the last two weeks across Alberta and BC. My fiancé and I come every year. This was the first time staying at this place and it was an utter disappointment. I’m usually hesitant to post such a harsh review, but considering the cost and amount of deficiencies in the rooms I felt like I need to warn others.

Parking: Not guaranteed and street parking can be a challenge. There are many more units than parking so it’s definitely first come first served. Can be a challenge if you plan on going out for the day

Rooms: Both our rooms were on the second floor. The rooms had stains all through the carpets. Our facet leaked and the sink wouldn’t drain even when running water Structurally the floor had many ‘soft spots’ where it looks like patch work was done under the carpet. I’m not sure if this is a danger but it doesn’t seem safe The internet didn’t work for most of our stay so being able for me to work remotely was out of the question The coffee machine wasn’t cleaned and had coffee grinds in the water (gross considering I have no idea how long that was sitting there) Smell: the smell was dank and humid. The portal ac units helped but the smell was just unbearable in the one room if the ac unit was running Bar fridge: we had to unplug it, the compressor was going (it was very loud). No replacement was available Noise: get used to hearing the neighbours snore or flush the toilets

COVID protocols: Their gym, while decent, had no sanitizer. Best practices, especially in high traffic areas should include a spray and hand sanitizing agent. I brought this up at the front desk and was told they would fix this and that the cleaner just removed them to refill them. Checked again 24 hours later and still no cleaner was present for your hands. My recommendation to the desk was to keep cleaner and sanitizer there at all times and swap them out as they need to. They simply said it was a busy weekend and they were understaffed. Contact tracing and prevention for COVID was clearly not a concern after you leave the front desk (they had sanitizer there)

Jasper is beautiful and we’re definitely coming back, but will be scratching this place off our list and not recommending it until these items are addressed. It feels like the property is in a state disarray and disrepair which is really...
