I had to go to Edmonton for Appts on March 20th, 2015...I chose this hotel for the location, but I normally stay at another hotel because I'm a Gold member at another hotel in Edmonton,AB. The exceptional service I received at this hotel made me want to return.. In fact, I did, 2 wks Later.. Mainly because of the Amazing service I received from Michelle. I had recently stayed at the Famous HIGH end hotel in Downtown Ottawa, and yes, the View of the Ottawa River was Amazing, and the Hotel was beautiful, but the service didn't come close to what Michelle provided to us this stay. That is Important to me!
On check in , she Greeted me by Name, Thanked me for being a IHG member and Wished me Early Happy B-day wishes! I was Impressed.. We were late checking in that night, and had just drove 5 hrs.. We were tired and hungry, and didn't really feel like leaving the hotel.. We wanted to eat in the room and watch a movie that night.. She gave us some Great suggestions for Great local eats, including the Restaurant in this hotel.. We had a minor issue with the Tv in the room and getting the credit card to work for watching the movie. She quickly came and fixed it herself!! We weren't waiting for a maintenance man for an 30-45 mins like I experienced at my last hotel stay in Ottawa... The Next morning, she was working in the Restaurant and helped us with our breakfast.. I've never seen someone in the Hotel industry so Multi tasked.. During breakfast, we had a great chat with her and great service.. We joked with her because she was working late the night before and then back at the hotel early the next morning with a Huge smile and pleasant, friendly personality. She Clearly LOVES her job and it shows.. She makes you feel valued and she offered the Best service I've received in a LONG time. She recommended we go the the Mayfield Dinner theatre during our stay that weekend .. We decided to do this to celebrate my B-day.. It was a Fabulous suggestion!!! We enjoyed it so much, 2 of my family members returned this weekend and went to the dinner theatre for their Anniversary. Her great service certainly had a ripple effect. I will be returning to this hotel this upcoming weekend.
During my last stay in Edmonton, I gave up a free hotel because I decided to stay at this hotel again.. I am a frequent client at another hotel with Gold membership, so I have a $500 voucher to stay at this other hotel that has to be used soon, but I decided to return to this Holiday inn instead. And it's because of Michelle..

Extra $$$ for Security is not wanted, no Canadian currency.|After waiting on hold for 1.5 hours, the call was dropped by your end, within no return call.|BUT you then had a Promotional Rep contact me with an Offer: Great stay in the US for cheap, they will gladly take the new card number right now.|Further to this issue, this location was glad to take cash the last time my CC was being replaced.|Making regular customers sleep in the parking lot is very irresponsible and dangerous due to socialistic ideals like Canadian Cash is not wanted or respected.|This is so sad, I will not let this type of customer service and abuse go unchecked.||Their Response:||Thank you for frequently staying at our Holiday Inn & Suites West Edmonton. We appreciate you as one of our IHG® One Rewards members. (Do They?)||We apologize for your experience, Terry.||The hotel will not honor the reservation if you don't have a credit card as per policy. ( We don't care that you are in good standing here)||Our team also asked if they could give you a one-time exemption but their policy is strictly implemented to be fair to other guests. Read moreLarge, free parking lot. Nice open and clean lobby. Friendly and courteous staff. Less than 10 minute drive to the West Edmonton Mall and loads of restaurants to choose from along 170th. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel WiFi was better than at home. I was able to stream on-demand movies and tv from my tablet without any buffering or slowness. There was enough coffee in the room for two cups. The shower was nice and full. Lighting in the room was good. My room did not have a clock; however, I used the wake-up call service and had a smart phone, so not a real issue, but still would have liked a clock.
I can't say enough about the staff. Michelle should be given anything she wants any time she asks. I booked two meeting rooms to be used over two days. The evening I arrived, it was discovered that I misunderstood what was required for our training. The facilitator needed TV's in both meeting rooms. Michelle and Francis went above and beyond in obtaining 2 TV's for us at the very last minute and had everything set up and PERFECT in short order. My error ended up being a problem that she took on and addressed with professionalism, courtesy, and grace. You can't teach those kind of skills. She is excellent and I will continue to stay at this location because of the amazing experience provided by the staff lead by Michelle. THANK...
