This is a new hotel in Edmonton and is in a great location. It is only minutes from West Edmonton Mall and the Mayfield Common... great shopping!
I stayed here while on a business trip and enjoyed all the amenities that are standard in the hotel. I liked the roominess of the suite and having defined kitchen, living and sleeping areas. Since it is new, the hotel is super clean... has that "new carpet" smell... nice!
There were a few glitches, but none that would keep me from coming back. The first was that the coffee maker wouldn't plug in on the kitchen counter. The plug-ins seem to be a European design and I finally had to move the coffee maker over to the desk. I needn't have bothered though, because the coffee pouch was designed for a mini-maker and not the full sized one in the suite, so my coffee was was mainly water. On the plus side, the coffee in the breakfast area was excellent!
I kind of expected the staff of the new hotel to be super friendly and accommodating, and although they were polite enough, there didn't seem to be an overall warm feeling from them. Check in was perfunctory and easy enough, but not super friendly. I asked one of the night clerks if there were shower caps available and he said he didn't know... he said he'd look into it if I wanted him to (which kind of felt like I was being a bother). When I checked out I was totally surprised that the desk clerk just took my room key, swiped it, printed out the paperwork and handed it to me... all without saying a word! I expected to be asked how my stay was and if everything was satisfactory or not (which, with the exception of the coffee maker, it really was lovely). Like I said... no one was really rude... but it wasn't quite the customer service I expected from such a lovely hotel.
These are just small things that may be worked out in time, and I only mention them as feedback for the management team... problems can't be corrected if they're not made aware of them. I'd highly recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Edmonton... I'm sure you won't be...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but after the disappointing treatment my clients received, I feel compelled to share this experience. We booked this hotel for two of our clients during a film shoot in Edmonton because it was close to the studio, near West Edmonton Mall, and had a 9/10 rating on Hotels.com. However, after reading further reviews, I found that the rating doesn’t accurately reflect the quality of the hotel.
My clients, who travel frequently and stay in hundreds of hotels annually, arrived on November 18. Immediately, they were put off by the noise and chaos in the lobby and hallways. Our female client felt uncomfortable and was even followed by a male guest to her room. Additionally, the room’s cleanliness was far below expectations and inconsistent with the advertised standards. In fact, the hotel is closer to a 6.5/7 rating, not a 9.
After only an hour, both clients checked out due to unsanitary conditions and the safety concerns for our female client. They relocated to the Metterra on Whyte. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, they denied the issues and refused to issue a refund, despite the fact that my clients left after just one hour and didn’t stay for the prepaid three nights. Even after Hotels.com contacted the hotel, they refused the refund, though Hotels.com did provide compensation.
It’s deeply troubling that a female guest felt unsafe and left an hour after check-in, and no effort was made to address her concerns. This situation was handled in the most unprofessional and disappointing manner.
As a production company that frequently books accommodations, I strongly advise anyone looking to stay in Edmonton—especially in the west end—to consider other options. The way this hotel handled the situation, especially after such serious concerns, is the most unprofessional experience I’ve had in my years of...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at Staybridge Suites West Edmonton by IHG, and I was thoroughly impressed by both the quality of the accommodations and the exceptional level of service provided throughout my stay.
The hotel offers a wide range of amenities that truly enhance the guest experience. From the well-equipped fitness center and indoor pool to the convenient business center, every facility is thoughtfully maintained and easily accessible. The guest suites are spacious, modern, and designed with comfort in mind. I especially appreciated the in-room kitchenette, which made it easy to prepare meals during my stay, as well as the comfortable couch, desk workspace, and overall layout that provided a homelike feel—perfect for both work and relaxation.
One of the highlights was the daily complimentary breakfast, which offered a great variety of fresh and tasty options. Additionally, the evening socials with appetizers and two drink tickets were a pleasant surprise and provided a great opportunity to unwind and connect with other guests in a relaxed atmosphere.
Most notably, the staff at Staybridge Suites were exceptional. Everyone I encountered was friendly, professional, and genuinely committed to making guests feel welcome. I would like to extend a special thank you to Rahul, who went above and beyond by helping me print an important document for school. His assistance was greatly appreciated and is a testament to the hotel’s dedication to guest satisfaction.
Overall, my experience at Staybridge Suites West Edmonton was outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel for both short- and long-term stays, whether for business or leisure. I’m already looking forward to...
