I absolutely loved it here. My family (2 adults 2 small children) had a suite room. Massive king-size bed, everything super modern and high class. Steps away from the beach. Located in the most amazing small oceanside town I've ever found.
Bedroom had a beautiful ensuite, shower comfortably fit my wife and 2 kids, and I couldtb have gotten in there if I wanted. Huge bathtub we never touched. Illuminated mirrors if you want that, even a separate heating system for just the ensuite.
The kitchen was well equipped. I could easily make anything that I do at home(which is a lot... I'm a pretty technically talented cook) Having a real coffee maker that took real filters and would make 10 cups worth was great. Even the hotel coffee there wasn't bad (although cmon some hotel out there must serve something other than dark roast). The sofa-bed was comfortable. Enough pillows for all. TV in the living room was pretty small, though, for the size of the area... may 27"ish.
The hotel gave us a roku to use Netflix, I'd call to get any number of items over our 4 nights, and it was usually delivered

As for the hotel staff: we called in the issue mere hours after checking out, so it sure would be nice if it took less than six calls over more than two days to get one call back telling us they couldn’t find our clothes.
The hotel itself is quite nice, the location is prime, the beach just outside the door is gorgeous, and the kitchen in the suite was well enough stocked for what we needed. But don't plan on using the single elevator available to serve the tower rooms! It is excessively slow to service the 8 residential floors plus lobby and parkade, especially at busy periods like checkout time. After long waits on our first day we defaulted to taking the stairs when going to/from the lobby. Unfortunately it is a long detour to get to the parkade without taking the elevator, so we had to wait and inevitably had decent length conversations with other guests who were also waiting. On departure day we waited over 10 minutes as the elevator stopped at our floor multiple times but was always packed with people – even on the way up, as people would get in going up simply to make sure they’d be able to have a spot to go down! We had to give up, take our suitcases down the stairs in multiple trips, take the long detour to the stairs to bring the vehicle up to the lobby entrance, and double park because someone was taking up space having a chat with their buddy and staff didn’t keep traffic moving. On top of that, the front desk was unable to print our folio for checkout - hopefully the receipt printing is something they can fix, but there's no easy solution to the elevator problem.
For those travelling with families, be sure to note that the sleeper sofa is a double bed rather than a queen, which makes it harder for families with members who have difficulty sharing a bed.
Overall, I’m sure it can still be a great place to stay. Just be sure to temper your expectations on the...
Read moreLots to like about this place, although there are a few wish items I'd add to make it better still. Beach front property conveniently located within walking distance of downtown Parksville & other beach locales. Location, comfort, cleanliness & convenience make this a worthwhile place to stay especially if you take advantage of the occasional deals on offer each yr.
We got a room in the West wing, which was bigger than the room my brother's family had in the tower. They liked The beach view, while we preferred the extra space for our family of 4. Mini 'kitchenette' had a sink, under counter fridge, cabinets, coffee maker & kettle, but no microwave, so expect cold left overs of keeping any. It came with a full sized container of Dawn dishwashing liquid, while only supplying 4 plates, 2 mugs, 2 glasses & 2 spoons. Could be better equipped. Sporting benefits include indoor pool & hot tub, free paddle board booking for an hour along with life jackets off limited sizes. Our 9yr old son had to use his own life jacket as they didn't have his size. We would've had to share the board between us if another family didn't kindly share one of their borrowed boards with us. Book right away or you may not get one during your stay. Convenient hose w/ spray nozzle to rinse off sand at the boardwalk entrance before returning to your room. Also saw e-bikes on offer, but didn't try booking one. Beach towels available at concierge counter, so you don't need to bring one.
Restaurant was short staffed, so expect waits for food. Some nights they were full. We only ordered take out, but one evening waited 1hr for only kids chicken strips & fries. Food is a expensive for us, but maybe it's the going rate for this level of restaurant even if they serve some basic menu items.
Elsewhere, we found more affordable options. Our biggest challenge was ordering food before restaurants in town stopped taking orders, many stopped accepting within 1hr of closing. Seems standard for the area & often closing relatively early for us larger city dwellers. Be prepared to dine earlier than you might...
