A beautifully open and very clean space with large shade trees, grassy areas, picnic tables and a large sandy beach. When the tide is in you can walk around the bay in the water and it is no deeper than your waist. There is also a splash area where water shoots up from different spouts, great fun to watch the kids try and dodge the geysers but even more fun for the kids is the amazing playgrounds with brightly painted structures to play on including an airplane shaped monkey bar. There are swings and a sheltered picnic area. There are sandy floored washrooms and rinse showers, volleyball courts but the best part of the island experience are the warm and friendly people. I guess living in a beautiful spot like Vancouver Island makes it easy to be kind.

We were in Parksville for the weekend to attend the Trooper concert and also go to the Sandcastle competition. Considering how many people were in the city and how popular these events are. We were really impressed with the infrastructure. We took the public transit from Resort Drive to the park for the concert. After the concert we were able to get on the first bus back again to Resort Drive. That was so well organized. It just ran like clockwork! It’s great that you have food trucks in the community park… that’s something we’re sadly missing in Esquimalt.

Fantastic community hub of activities. Always busy but well deserving as the best beach for kids and a really long sand bar, spray park, clean bathrooms, lots of room to spread out, food trucks with snacks and ice cream daily, lots fo dogs, decent free parking (if you are willing to walk). Always something going on. Beautiful sunsets. Shallow warm water makes it good for children.and seniors.

A Paradise of Sun, Sand, and Serenity

The beach, a timeless natural wonder, is a place where one can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse themselves in the soothing embrace of nature. With its vast expanse of sun-kissed sand, shimmering azure waters, and gentle ocean breeze, the beach offers a sanctuary of tranquility and rejuvenation.

As I stepped onto the warm sand, I was instantly greeted by a sense of serenity. The rhythmic crashing of the waves provided a melodic soundtrack, harmonizing with the laughter of children and seagulls gliding overhead. The vibrant hues of the sky, transitioning from dawn to dusk, painted a mesmerizing canvas that captured the essence of beauty.

The beach is a playground for all ages. Families frolicked in the shallows, building sandcastles and collecting seashells, while couples strolled hand-in-hand along the shoreline, sharing intimate moments against the backdrop of an endless horizon. Adventurers took to the water, surfing and paddleboarding, seeking exhilaration in the untamed power of the ocean.

The beach is a sensory delight. The soft touch of sand between my toes, the invigorating splash of cool water on my skin, and the gentle caress of the sun's warmth on my face created a sensory symphony that awakened my spirit. I reveled in the freedom of being at one with nature, embracing the simple pleasures of life.

Moreover, the beach provides a sanctuary for introspection. Sitting beneath the shade of a palm tree, I marveled at the vastness of the ocean, contemplating the mysteries of the universe. The beach's ethereal beauty invoked a sense of awe and humility, reminding me of my place in the grand tapestry of existence.

In conclusion, the beach is an enchanting haven that rejuvenates the soul and awakens the senses. Its beauty, tranquility, and recreational opportunities create an idyllic escape from the rigors of daily life. Whether you seek adventure, relaxation, or contemplation, the beach offers a timeless sanctuary where you can find solace and embrace the wonders of the...

Ideal summer playground for both adult's & children alike (including the four legged, furry sort). Though it DOES have a lot to offer throughout the year, summer is when this park is at it's very best.

Beyond it beautiful seaside, sandy beaches that seem to stretch out for kilometers (miles) during low tides, there is a multitude of activities for everyone.

Park itself has wide, paved walkways throughout - that are easy access for wheelchairs. The bathrooms/change rooms are close to the beach in a central area of the park, in a octagonal cement block building- clean & well maintained - also wheelchair friendly . Just outside the building is a outdoor shower for rinsing off the sand.

In this central area you'll also find a food trucks, picnic tables, benches & a extensive children's playground. If you do some exploring, you might find the outdoor workout equipment for adults.

Other amenities in this park include; a sandy volleyball field (though I don't know who you would contact to set up the nets), baseball/soccer/rugby/lacrosse fields, tennis courts, excellent skateboard park. Plus several grassy area's suitable for playing fetch with your dog, flying kites, tossing the football, etc.

During July & August a major park attraction for tourists & locals is the Sandsculpting Competition & Exhibition. Each year this event has a different theme, the stunning results are always memorable, worth both the time & effort to view them. Suggested price of admission is 3 (?) dollars per adult, less for children & families (admission by donation). Exhibition opens from 9:00 am to...

Incredibly refreshing any time of the year. Summer time brings food trucks, evening hoola Hooper's. It has a free workout area for those wanting to work out. It has a really large park for children to play in. The water park has being ripped out but the Parksville lions are fundraising for a new and improved water park which is a main feature at this park. The wild grass is lovely the sand is beautiful. The tide rolls way out so you can walk a long time barefoot in the puddled moist sand of the ocean floor. There are many crabs for kids to find cute stones to skip or put in your pocket. There is a public use tennis court, there is a dry, large, sanded area where beach volleyball happens or kids can dig in the sand.

In August there is a worldwide sand sculpture competition which features beautifully sculpted sand statues.

There is a really large open grass field where you can throw a football kick a soccer ball fly kites.

Dogs are welcome on a leash, however in the winter or around there, dogs aren't allowed on the beach because of the birds migrating.

Also in the summertime the city puts on a movie in the park. I believe this is one night a month and it features a really large projector screen and vendors.

In the Heat of the summer the ocean is beautiful for swimming in or kayaking or...
